Hmmm, there is a game called Codename Outbreak for the pc.
I suggest looking for some in the indie section of Steam. Big-name developers are sadly forced to focus on netplay due to modern gaming demands. Of course, I suspect they are quite happy for an excuse to force Internet connections for single-player given their stance on piracy and such.
Search OpenArena PC game... you might like!

f.e.a.r is pretty sweet. its a fps with a bit of horror genre mixed in... play with headphones in the dark with the volume up and youll occasionally jump out of your seat.
Yeah, these all seem good, I'll give some of them a try.
