(GC) Animal Crossing Problem (Saved Game)

I am relatively new to emulators, I only started yesterday.
I am using the dolphin emulator.
The game I wanted to play was animal crossing and after doing all the work for Tom Nook I decided to save and get off.
I came back later that afternoon but I could not load my save. The file was there but it just would not opened.
First thing I did was copy my save files over to another folder in case I messed up terribly somehow to they are backed up.
I tried changing my load path from MemoryCardA.raw to MemoryCardA.USA.raw and that did not work it just reset to MemoryCardA.raw.
I tried to change MemoryCardA.USA.raw to MemoryCardA.raw but that did not work.
I tried moving the files around on my computer to see if it was a directory problem and that did not work.
Any advice?
I also tried this on the DS version and it works fine, just the Gamecube one messing up.
