Emulator Control Help

Hello, my name is Terry and I have recently downloaded the Jnes emu.
My problem is with the controls. I do not own any sort of special controller for my PC, nor do i really feel like buying one =\ So I thought I configured the controls correctly for my keyboard but the emu doesnt respond when i hit any keys. Any tips, help, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

put the option on JoyPad and Select None Then Press the buttons next to the options and use your Keyboard for Up/Down/Left/Right.
Enter for Start etc. Then press ok.
