MAME Windows 7

I'm trying to get mame to work with windows 7 and I keep getting the same problem. I've downloaded 3 separate programs and every time I try to load any of them my whole screen just goes blank and my computer freezes up. Does anyone know why this happens??

I have Windows 7 and I do not have this problem is this the only emulator that does this
