PS1 EBOOT emulation on PC
So I'm just wondering, is there any work done by anyone on getting EBOOT files of PS1 games to work on a PC. I mean, they are essentially just PS1 games straight up so I'd imagine that it wouldn't be too hard for a PS1 emulator to figure out what to do with it.
The reason I wanna know is because I find them so much easier to manage than PS1 images and crap and I'd probably be able to use QuickPlay with them too and also, they take up less space on the HD and that's just fun for everyone.
So yeah, is there an PS1 emulator supporting EBOOT files? Or atleast will there be in an foreseeable future.
Re: PS1 EBOOT emulation on PC
You would have to revere. the eboot file with Simple Popstation GUI to play it
I talked to Pete ( great guy ) about something like this a ways back. I wanted to create a mp3/iso and have his plug ins read it. He informed me that most of the cd reading logic is actually in the core for most emulators and not the plugin. It would involve heavy rewriting. I suspect the same here, with out decompressing, its not gong to happen ;(
