I never liked Putin. He kind of sat there quietly for a while, looking cold and disinteresting, but now as his leadership is supposed to be coming to an end, he seems to be pulling a power play right out of Hitler's own playbook. He's made no secret of the fact he wants to remain in power, and from starting organizations like this... Nashi bullshit, to his recent active attempts to raise tensions with the west via Missile Shield rhetoric, to repeated encroachments into British and Continental American (Alaska) airspace by Russian Bombers. (nuclear bombers, mind you)

I can't believe how gullible some people are.. Take this blog for instance.

This guy was just posting some interesting propganda posters he had collected from the days of the USSR and the comments section explodes with ill informed, ignorant opinions. Even from some Americans..

But come on.. America hardly wants to take over Russia or the rest of the world.. We have more free expression (even during a time when liberals cry otherwise) than the rest of the world, we would rather trade with other countries than invade them and make them "western slums" ; an excuse cited by some Arabs for denouncing the Modernization they originally strived for so valiantly so many decades ago.

I've seen some stupid Americans out there.. But this Nashi crap really takes the cake, guys.. We have backwater off the public rader independant idiots like the Neo-Nazi skinheads and white supremecists.. But nothing state funded on this level.. They might as well just call themselves Nazi's

— Nashi (Ours) was founded in 2005. It claims to represent the “Putin generation” aged 14 to 25 who want to restore Russia as a global power

— Members study the Nashi Manifesto, which is filled with references to foreign attempts to take control of Russia Nashi denies that it receives Kremlin funding, saying that it relies on “nationally orientated businesses”. These are thought to include state-controlled Gazprom

— It has mobilised as many as 50,000 demonstrators in support of Mr Putin, though total membership is unclear

— Activists intimidate and harass anyone regarded as critical of the President

— Nashi issued mobile phone Sim cards to 10,000 Muscovites in April so that they could report any signs of a pro-Western revolution

Do those sound like patriotic freedom loving, DIVERSITY oriented goals to you?

Nothing like intimidating your enemies at the polls, in the streets, wherever the go; mocking and making fun of them, right? Gotta keep other voices silent if they don't agree with good old RASPutin...

Let's not forget the 1999 violation of the nuclear test ban treaty (also violated by China that same year). The 1999 violation of Alaskan air space by Russian bombers. Revealed plans to attach biological weapons to ICBM's to hit American cities that Russians would have wanted to capture intact. The USA is also PAYING to maintain illegally purchased Super Computers that were sold by IBM to Russia for purposes of nuclear weapons research; The same computers CONGRESS STOPPED the Clintin administration from trying to sell to Russia in 1997!

He stole a Superbowl ring from Robert Kraft. That's my reason for not liking him.

I think you forgot to mention the ring.

But yeah, fucking socialist thieves. They even think that objects on other peoples body belong to "the people" and they can just take it

Zach is a newb.

This time two Bombers were intercepted way close to a U.S Aircraft Carrier, one of them flying over the carrier TWICE at 2,000 feet

Needless to say this was not normal behavior even by COLD WAR standards...

RARGH, ignorant. America is not the free-est country. I know it must be very confusing for you because of that song you're always singing at sporting events, but apparently there are other countries in the West and *GASP* even have democratic governments.

I am the Stig
We need a politics section for threads like this, with a sticky that explains WTF a socialist or a communist is. (Yes, Education in the UK is that bad....)

First of all, the Putin administration had done a great deal for Russia, its only natural that the Russian people want him to continue making government decisions. Have you looked at the other parties during the recent Russian elections? Nationalist and Communist party were the trailing parties, behind Dmitry Medvedev party (appointed successor by Putin).

He's made no secret of the fact he wants to remain in power

At least he's not lying. I couldn't say the same for the Bush administration.

and from starting organizations like this... Nashi bullshit, to his recent active attempts to raise tensions with the west via Missile Shield rhetoric, to repeated encroachments into British and Continental American (Alaska) airspace by Russian Bombers. (nuclear bombers, mind you)

The U.S have gone unchalleneged for a long time, and from the looks of things, its fine by me that they are starting to get limited by the rise of other powerful nations. Though Russia won't be a major threat anytime soon.

Lets not forget the constant threat that NATO presents to Russia. Why is there a need for NATO anymore? It was founded to counter the Soviet Union.

This is what Wikipedia describes NATO as - "system of collective defense whereby its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party."

From what external threat? Some terrorist hiding in a cave in Afghanistan. If NATO continues to creep up on Russian borders, its natural that the country feels threatened and has the need to retaliate.

Just watch the U.S media if you want propaganda.

Russia's already making moves to make natural resources, such as oil, state owned. Do you really think the U.S is happy about not being able to get their companies investing in these markets. After all, the corporate world of the U.S is what runs the country.

Russia is not under a Communist regime, they have free of expression as well. Assuming it had a lack of freedom, based on what the U.S media tells you, is a pretty ridiculous.
