how can i get linux or gnu for free cause it says its free but can't find it

Since you are clearly a beginner when it comes to linux you should try using a live CD distribution first.
Luckily Ubuntu linux has a live CD version so just head to ubuntu.com and grab a CD image. Afterwards all you have to so is burn it to a CD and boot from it.
Note: Live CD version do not require installation. Just put it in your CD drive and boot from it.

thanks but luckily my cousing had a copy of ubuntu and he gave it too me thanks for youre help anyway.
