I've got an odd problem which took me awhile to notice. The problem itself isn't major, it's simply that the music in RE:Directors Cut is much lower quality than it should be, at first I didn't notice, but later on I noticed some of it was especially bad, I even checked some videos of parts of the game to confirm this. I'm running epsxe 1.60, usually with P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9, I'ved tried a few other plugins and found no difference, including Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41. I've also tried loading the ISO the normal way and by using Daemon's tools, too.
Has anyone else had this problem or know what settings I might be missing? According to compatibility lists it's supposed to run perfect, so it kinda confuses me.

Did you try it with mooby's 2.8 cdr ? and What part exactly and what does it sound like? I would try it with eternal spu default settings.

Is that a CD plugin? I'm running an ISO, not from the CD. I've tried Eternal SPU, it says that in my first post :/. As for music, most of the ingame music seems to be lower quality, it's difficult to describe without providing the actual music example, but the guardhouse, for example, if you look up a gameplay video somewhere and listen to the music, it's much higher quality than what I'm getting in game. It's almost like going from playstation music to snes music.

What's the audio sample rate? Make sure it's at 44100 Hz. If it doesn't help, try setting it to 22400 Hz.

I searched for a plugin that lets me change the sample rate, and I am getting slightly clearer music now...
I think I should also note that as far as I know this is the first game where I've run into this issue, I recall running Grandia and having the music at the same quality as on the PSX itself. Maybe it has something to do with XA Sound? I know that RE needs that enabled for it to work at all.
I'm actually beginning to think they may have changed a lot of the music in directors cut? If so, I don't think they made an improvement :/ I don't have the original to check this, though.
Another Edit: I've confirmed that for Directors Cut Dual Shock, the soundtrack was replaced entirely, hence the confusion, the new composer they picked sucks! I'm sorry about this, thanks for helping, at least I improved the emulators sound quality a bit through this.
