I'm currently working on one for hardcore gamers. It will not have silly characters in it. It's gonna have mostly DC, Marvel, SNK, and Capcom characters!

Sure thing. But it's gonna be via torrent. I'm going to up it tonight or tommorow.
I was thinking, whenever I get a couple of good fighters (about 20), I'll up them on megaupload so people can just add them to their collection!

Looking good man. I had a go at it a while ago but am not tech adv. just shoved a bunch of chars cap v snk format. let me know when this one is up and running. also do you take requests??? i knew a guy who could program new supercombos etc. that would be neat, and include onslaught! no matter what though it does look good. I'm cheering you on. (also could you bundle a manual for people we don't know etc)?

I wish I knew how. I'm just adding characters, new music, and stages from stratch!

Will do.

No need! All you gotta do is extract the .rar that says "EXTRACT HERE BEFORE PLAYING" (right click it and pick extract here), and it'll overwrite the current winmugen.exe (which crashes a lot), and then you can play for hours and hours with almost no game crashes.
You can get it here:
http://hosted.filefront.com/ChouZangetsu/
I'll add onslaught into the next one when I get some more characters.

Yeah, I can do a movelist for the characters.
From the Guilty Gear series, I got Sol Badguy, May, Dizzy, Ky, Justice & Robo Ky.
I'm still lookin' for a good Order Sol.
Mugen Hardcore v1.1 Pics (Onslaught was glitchy, so I'm going to find a better one.)
More characters, better music, more / better stages, Karin upgraded, etc, etc. Will be up soon.

I love mugen great game i have a lost of chars in that game.
What do you do with popular chara like Ryu that has many version (SF2, SF3, CVS, MvsS etc) ? do you include it all or just pick one (oldest, newest etc) ?
ChouZangetsu
May 21st, 2007, 14:03
Include them all. We have Ryu (CvS2), Evil Ryu, Riot Ryu (CvS2 Ryu with Akuma's moves), and Angel Ryu.
angel Ryu ? wow, i never heard of it:)
btw i'm curious about:
1. how much fight until ending? or is it endless?
2. Is there any boss or midboss character ? please don't tell me who is it:) (ah, "spoiler")
3. the last time i play mugen its 1 on 1,

Well, I've got it set to 20 matches in both single and double team modes.
You can set the maximum amount of matches to any number. You can also choose who you want to fight first, second, third, etc, but to do all that you got to edit some stuff in the select.def.
2. Is there any boss or midboss character ? please don't tell me who is it:) (ah, "spoiler")
All bosses are selectable so you'd fight them at any time like everyone else.
3. the last time i play mugen its 1 on 1,
It can be 1 on 1, 1 on 2, 2 on 1, or 2 on 2. They can all fight at the same time or take turns.
It can also be up to 4 on 4 if they all take turns.
http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/8800/untitledyg3.jpg
Oh, and me and a friend of mine are also changing the way you do supers to make them easier to do.
For example:
All of Evil Ryu's supers are now:
D, F, x+y (also in air)
D, B, x+y (also in air)
D, F, a+b (also in air)
D, B, a+b (also in air)
D, F, x+a then D, B, x+a to finish
D, F, y+b
D, D, D any punch
F, B, F, any kick
Teleport Forward: F, B, F, any punch
Teleport Backwards: B, F, B, any punch
Like CVS/SVC, its very hard / confusing to merge some game that have different system (just defense, dash, roll, counter etc).
Are you reprogrammed all chara so its that it similar with the other ? , if yes, wow, such a hard work :D
About 3 year ago i make a custom MOTW mugen and found that a character in the net have at least three type
1. Like in game
2. remodelled with another game system
3. overpowered...
i know that we play for enjoyment (type 3) but at that time i want to built MOTW with pure chara (1). Even then i found that there are chara with different health point, different attack power etc. And here we go again :)

Too much work, lol! But, really there's no need. You can change the difficulty setting from 1 to 8 (hardest).
We're going to try to include as many Melty Blood characters (all of them if possible) from every Melty Blood series and every single character will be in order (depending on their first names mostly) from the top on down.

Hi there peoples, I'm new to this site and originally signed up because i needed info on getting killer instinct to work on mame32 (Those elusive bloody chd's!!!) but then i came across this thread and decided to read a few posts. As i am a mad 2d-fighter fan from back in the "SF2: the world warrior" days when it was the hottest thing in the world of coin ops I'm not easily impressed. I saw the screenshots for this game "Mugen Hardcore" and i'm sold;) i'm in the process of downloading it. I've played alot of 2d fighters (pretty much all the ones worth playing) and this one looks like.... well from what i can gather it looks like all of those games combined and then some!!! i can't wait to play it. A Huge thumbs up from me and my crew here in Aus. Can u tell me something? how many hours do u reckon has been spent putting this thing together?
anyway, from Lotek ltd. Australia, we salute you!!!:bow::bow:
P.s. I do have a question, what exactly are the chd files and why don't all games need them?? also my apologies if this post isn't in the right place, this's the 1st forum i've ever used:happy:

They're big image files that are required to run certain games.
5-27-2007
- Almost all Melty Blood characters are in!
- All characters are in order from the top on down!
F1 = Instant kill player 2.
Left CTRL + F1 = Instant kill player 1.
F2 = Reduces both players life bars to 1%.
F3 = Fills both players power bars to maximum.
F4 = Restarts current match (in case of game freeze or glitch)
F5 = Time Over (time limit is currently set to infinite though)
Space Bar = Refils both health and power bars for both players.

Me again! :) is there anywhere i can acquire move lists for the characters? i've found some moves in files in their respective folders, but of course the characters are from a range of different games so the filing differs from character to character any help would be much appreciated  even if i could get a list of the games the characters have been taken from i'd be happy to compile an in-depth movelist, i'd like to contribute to this project in some way and i've no clue when it comes to programming so maybe i can help out this way? i reckon i've probably got at least 100 to maybe 200 characters worth of movelists, so part of the battle is already won:happy: one last question... is there some way i can open the characters files up to look at them unencrypted? i was thinkin' maybe i could decipher some of the moves if not all of them by seeing the commands they use?
setablazebyyou
May 30th, 2007, 02:59
try opening the command or act files (dont know which ones either) with basic notepad or word (any processor will do) and you should be able to view them there. also you can modify them if you know how to use the commands properly. like take out the f + lk from akuma's demon rage and it will become as simple as lp + lp + hp. Experimenting is the best way. i wish i had time to contribute right now but am very busy. maybe later if chou can delegate some mindless work to me i could get that done:p good luck!
PS - hey chou, any way to get garou: motw? I'd LOVE to be able to use grant. I can't find a working fileset though.

Are you using Windows Vista or DirectX10?
I did change the sound plugin. Go here and download the sound fix.zip and extract it inside your mugen folder. It'll add the dj-van.dll sound plugin and overwrite your old mugen.cfg.
It should fix the team mode crashes too.

ChouZangestsu, it seems the "special edition" files you posted are infected with the win32.parite virus(specifically, the exe's in the character folder), according to my copy of avast!, so maybe you should scan your own copy and all the .exes on your comp to double-check.
I really want to use your compilation of mugen, but the threat of having all my exe's breaking and then slightly increasing in size, causing it to dump temporary files all over the computer(which is basically what the virus does), is stopping me from doing so :(
Here's more info, and how you can check for it:
Technical Analysis
Win32/Parite is a packed, encrypted virus that infects files on the local file system and on writeable network shares. The virus repeatedly performs a sequence whereby it selects an .exe or .scr executable file, infects the file, waits a random time interval, selects and infects another file, and so on.
To each file that it selects for infection, the virus appends a new code section named ".<three random alphabetic characters>", such as .mpg. The virus changes the code-entry point of the file to the new, appended section. The virus contains certain code that it unpacks, re-encrypts, re-packs, and then copies to the new section of the executable file. This copied code consists of certain DLL code and some additional execution instructions.
When a file infected in this way runs, the execution instructions in the appended section of the file unpack and decrypt the DLL code in the appended section and drop it as a new file into the Windows temporary directory. The name of the dropped DLL consists of 4 randomly-chosen alphanumeric characters: the first three characters are alphabetic and the final character is a digit. Although the file is actually a DLL, the file extension is .tmp. So for example, the file could have a name like fia1.tmp.
The virus may also creates a marker in the registry:
Adds value: PINF
To subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer
This value contains the full path to the dropped DLL. Win32/Parite may check for this registry entry to determine whether the virus is already running on the computer.
The execution instructions in the appended section of the infected file load the dropped DLL. The DLL exports a start function which contains the main virus code. The virus code calls the start function, which injects the DLL into the explorer.exe process. When a certain condition is satisfied, the DLL code runs and infects other .exe and .scr executable files.
Win32/Parite does not run executable files that it infects. When an infected file runs (for example, when a user or the system runs the file), the virus code in the appended section runs and then returns control to the original code-entry point of the executable file. The executable file then runs normally even though it is infected, so there may be no readily apparent indication to a user of any malicious activity.
Manual Recovery
It is not possible to recover manually from Win32/Parite. Consult your antivirus software vendor for specific directions for removing this Trojan.
http://www.microsoft.com/security/encyclopedia/details.aspx?name=Win32%2fParite
Edit: The link provides an automatic removal tool for the virus, but I wouldn't recommend using it as it usually winds up damaging the exes it "repairs" to the point that they're beyond use.
However, it is useful for detecting the virus as it does it quickly and efficiently. If you don't have an actual paid-for virus scanner I'd recommend using it to check if you need one.
The rest of you who posted here, I recommend you scan your computer and attempt to fix it if you're concerned about saving space in your hard drives. This virus sucks up a lot of GB's of data over time if you have a lot of little exes(and sometimes inserts code that stops some of the more complex exe's it has infected from working), so it would probably wise for you guys to check your comps as well.
By the way, the worst thing this virus can do is infect your system files, which will prevent windows from running properly. It doesn't happen often, but I just wanted to tell you guys so it doesn't come as a shock to you when you one day start up your computers and find out that it's not working and you have to reformat your hard drive.

I get team crashes to every now and then but not that many. Winmugen just isn't stable enough to run perfectly. But try out that alternate exe and see if it helps at all.

Hmm. Yeah, you're right. It's mainly the dos2win and CharSffDtoW files that are infected although it's never caused us any problems. Actually those files aren't required to run winmugen so you can easily do a search for them in windows and delete them.
And there may be one in the winmugen.exe. We found one in one of ours so we put up another one that is virus free.
Edit:
We scanned the whole thing with Avast Pro 4.7 and got rid of all the baddies. And we're going to reupload it asap for ya.
I swear if you find another virus in there I'll slap my buddy here.

As for that vid, that's the method I use. You can add hundreds of characters to a clean select.def in minutes if you do it like that.

P.S. If not ... you`ll atleast get a lot of regards , thanx and blessings :) Guess it`s worthy , huh?

First off, you can easily choose which sound plugin you want to use.
There are three .rar files in there: dj-van, in_mad, and inmp3pro. Just right-click the one you want to use and pick "extract here" overwriting your current mugen.cfg. And that's it.
By default, in_mad.dll is currently set as your sound plugin to use.
DJ-VAN.dll Sound Plugin: Hardly ever plays the title screen and versus screen music and usually plays the battle music. But the music almost never stutters with full sound hardware acceleration.
IN_MAD.dll Sound Plugin: Usually plays title screen, versus screen and almost always plays the battle music. Might stutter a bit at times. If it does, you can fix it by lowering your sound hardware acceleration by one or two levels (or how many it might take to fix the stuttering).
IN_MP3PRO.dll Sound Plugin: Always plays title screen and versus music and almost always plays the battle music. Stutters a lot unless you completely turn off your sound hardware acceleration.
To lower or turn off your sound hardware acceleration (Windows XP DirectX up to 9.0c) go to Start > Run > type in dxdiag and press Enter > click the sound tab > under where it says
"DirectX Features", you are able to lower your sound hardware acceleration.
Bugs:
- Stage select menu shows the wrong picture for each stage. Use random.
- Oro doesn't have any sound effects and Ibuki is missing a few.
Besides that. Everything else is in there and working properly.
You will fight Urien then Gill after you've beaten everybody else.

Hey dude, you are cool! You are about to remake the 3rd Strike!Well I think you can add few more special effects...the ones you took from Marvel Vs Street Fighter are cool...Somehow I`ve never liked the "hit effects" in 3rd strike...But I see you are getting closer to remaking the SF III 3rd...And when you are ready can you tell us from where to get it and how to install it? :)
P.S. Great job...really :)

I can't do anything about the hit effects. You will just have to bare with it until the real one comes out soon...
And when you are ready can you tell us from where to get it and how to install it? :)
You don't install it. Just install 7-zip, download the game, extract it, and play it by clicking on the SFIII 3rd Strike.exe.

OMG! You`ve done a great job here! It`s almost the same as the arcade! At the moment I am typing here I am playing it on my win pc and I have to admit that you`ve did a great job!The controller is workig, the sound is the same, the terrains are the same...I am very very hapy to play it :)And if you patch some stuff I am 100% sure that CPSIII emulator will be pointless :D
1.Patch Ryu - man ... this Ryu is tough!
2.Super Art selection - there are all of the supers :) not bad ... but unfair :D
Otherwise - GREAT JOB BUDDY !

Thanks. :D But the real one is going to be better.
#1: Unfortunately, I don't know how to patch Ryu because I didn't make him. So, I really don't have a clue what to edit. Lower the difficulty?
#2: Can't do anything about that either. :p

From fist of the North Star:
First pic from left to right: Raoh and Kenshiro
Second pic from left to right: Jagi and Toki
Third pic (from Shaman King): Yoh and Len Tao
Yeah, they're in the last one.
Still looking into the sound issue.
Not sure what all this means but you might.
- Turn off Aero
- Disable UAC
- Not enough RAM.
- Right click on the select.def and uncheck the "readonly" checkbox if it is checked. It shouldn't be.
- Check your playback devices? Make sure they're running ok, and make sure there isn’t an incompatible sound driver installed... Vista disables incompatible drivers.
If you do not have enough RAM and are using Windows Vista, Vista will not play the sound.
This makes sense because the newer version you downloaded had
a ton of extra characters and therefore required more RAM.
But let's hope that's not the issue.
What are your PC specs?
setablazebyyou
June 17th, 2007, 00:57
i have 2 gigs of ram...dont think that's the issue. its a toshiba satellite a135
intel core 2 t5500 @ 1.66 GHz
2038mb ram
32 operating syst
windows vista ultimate
got that from my comp properties. not sure what else to do. no one else has this problem? ill try a few things on that list, but not sure what a couple of thos are...:(

setablazebyyou
June 17th, 2007, 17:58
think i deleted it. did you have an old copy? maybe ill just add everyone to that one if possible, or just start with a new mugen from scratch with your screen pack.
ChouZangetsu
June 17th, 2007, 22:45
K, hold on. I'll remake one real quick with like one character in it and a stage, you try it and see if it has any sound.
Gimmie a few mins. Try that test.rar.
http://hosted.filefront.com/ChouZangetsu
If you get any sound with that one then take out the mugen.cfg from the data folder and put it in the latest one.
That should do it.

Wow...... It really worked.... All I really did was re-enable the Linux sound support, lol. Vista is a mystery.
Go into your mugen.cfg again, find this section and make it look like this:
Change the width of the video win to 640 and the height to 480. And / or you can also press alt + enter to get full screen.
And down there where it says Directx mode, change DXmode to DXmode = Hardware.
And you can set your video filters by doubleres (from 0 to 4).
Stretch should = 1.
;-------------------------------------------------------

;Enter the width and height of the resolution you want to set here.
;The optimal resolution is 320x240, but if your video card has problems
;You may want to try 640x480.
Width = 640
Height = 480
;This is the color depth at which to run MUGEN. You should set it to
;16 bit color unless your video card has problems with it.
;16-fastest, 24,32-slower, 8-slowest/worst
Depth = 16
;Set this parameter to 0 to disable screen stretching, and set it to 1 if
;you want to scale it up to fit the current resolution.
Stretch = 1
;Set this parameter to use a resolution-doubling filter. You will
;need a fast machine to use these filters. You will need to increase
;the screen resolution to at least 640x480 for these modes.
;0 - off
;1 - diagonal edge detection
;2 - bilinear filtering
;3 - horizontal scanlines
DoubleRes = 4
;DirectX mode
;Choose from Hardware, Software, Windowed, Overlay, Safe and None
;Hardware and Software run in full-screen. Windowed and Overlay
;run in a window. The windowed modes require you to set Depth to
;whatever color depth you are using for you desktop. The best results
;are when you run in 16-bit color. There is no advantage to running
;in 32-bit color. If Hardware, Software and Windowed fail, try Safe.
;None uses GDI to draw, so it's very slow. Use None only if
;you cannot get anything else to work.
;Overlay is not supported by all video cards, but can be faster than
;Windowed if it works.
DXmode = Hardware
Don't forget to get the last update (for Mugen 100%) and please rate it.
By the way, does your sound skip at all when you are using the in_mp3pro sound plugin?

no skipping of sound in the test config, but haven't tried the newest one yet. i will do that later on and let you know. i really appreciate all your help. (this is going to be the biggest thread on the site...i can't believe more people aren't into it:confused:). one thing i think i may work on one weekend is spreading out "boss" type chars, they are sooo damn snk syndrome. we need someone who knows how to edit ai or something to maybe water them down a bit during regular fights.

Yeah, but when you extract the .rar with the updates, you will get another folder with the same name. Take the folders out of that and put them in your main directory and overwrite everything.
