FF9 Menu not coming up in battle

Ok well the game is working fine and all but when I get into battles, i can hear the scrolling when i press the up or down arrow but cant see the menu so I'm basically picking a random command.. not sure why it won't show up... and by the way im using ePSXe if you need to know

this issue has come up many times. Next time you can save a lot of time using the search function

set auto config to 'Nice'
or
turn on offscreen drawing #2 ;)
