how do you make animated avatars

Ya I really want to know how to make animated avatars. I also want to know how to make sigs. I always wanted to know how to make them. But never had the chance. can any one tell me whch programs I need. Please any one!!!!! :)
And yes it does sound stupid that I don't know how to make them.

For anything use PhotoShop. It's very expensive, but you can try a free alternative called GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/). I still don't know if PhotoShop can handle animated gifs, but I think Macromedia Fireworks is great for the task. Fireworks is not free.

Adobe imageready which handles animation comes with photoshop.

You can download more or less every programme from this site for FREE. I recommend the latest version of 'Adobe Photoshop'.

Without a 'Serial code' you can only obtain the 'Trial' version. With the 'Serial code' you can obtain the whole programme with no trial.
