Game Genie - NES

I am kinda new at this. I have been using Nester for a while. How do you use a game genie with this? i know where to look for the codes.

Also, what is the best emulator out there for nes, and works easiest with cheats?

I would love to play "golden Axe" on sega again, any suggestions on its emulator and cheat system?
