Hey new to the site.
I have several emulators like super nintendo etc. But recently my bro got the n64 onto his comp.
My comp however is older. A windows xp. I downloaded the 1964 emulator and the project 64 emulator from this site, but neither worked.
The 1964 emulator keeps saying "error to start video" when ever I open a rom.
And project64 keeps saying I need plugins, d3d9.dll etc
I downloaded them but when I open up the emulator again,it says that it can't download etc.
Does anybody know how to solve this? I'll be looking over this topic constantly.

When downloading project 64, extract ALL the files into one folder. It shouldnt ask for plugins. Also, make sure you have the latest versions.

I just got it working on both emulators now. I can see, hear and use the keyboard now.
But, its really laggy. Is their a way to prevent this?

Use projest 64 1.6
Use 16 bit graphics instead of 32 bit. Change Jabos d3d 8 to 6. This should speed it up but worsten the quality.

2 more questions.
I went back and now sometimes I don't see the image, but the sound and keyboard still works and sounds smooth:confused: Changed everything back and now I can see, but now its going even slower.

Where do I find those options?

I recommend:
Video (graphics) plugin: Jabo's Direct3D 6 (or 8 if you have a video card).
Audio (sound) Plugin: Jabo's DirectSound.
Input (controller) Plugin: Jabo's or N-Rage's.

It seems to be the only one that does work for me.
I recommend:
Video (graphics) plugin: Jabo's Direct3D 6 (or 8 if you have a video card).
Audio (sound) Plugin: Jabo's DirectSound.
Input (controller) Plugin: Jabo's or N-Rage's.
Video (graphics) plugin: Jabo's Direct3D6 1.5.2
Audio (sound) Plugin: Jabo's DirectSound 1.6
Input (controller) Plugin: Jabo's DirectInput71.6
ANd than I got pop ups like this:
Direct3D failed to initialize your HAL device
make sure you have a properly configured 3D graphics card compatible with Direct3D 6.0
The default or Selected video plugin is missing or invaild.
Check that you have at least one compatible plugin file in your plugin folder.
DO you guys know what this means?
Btw sorry for being such a pain in the ass lol.

That means you don't have a video card or your hardware acceleration is disabled. By the way, what video card do you have? You can find it by clicking on Start --> Run, then type dxdiag. Then click on display tab and there is it, a detailed info of your video card. You can also check if there's hardware acceleration below.

I see the problem. Looks like you only have 4 MB of video memory when the required amount for Direct3D games is at least 8 MB. If you have enough RAM (which I'm sure you have), you can assign additional 4 MB for sharing so that makes 8 MB (where I strongly recommend 16 or 32 MB for integrated graphics such as yours).
How to do this? This can be done through the BIOS of your computer. Refer to your motherboard manual for further info. If you are not sure how to modify your BIOS settings, ask a technician or somebody who knows about this stuff, since changing a BIOS setting incorrectly is a risk for your system.
