Help with cheat.dat

ok i got the file, made a folder 4 it i go into my games and open cheats and says something like unzip file when i already did is there something i need to do put it somewhere else or what please help im getting a headache:confused:

If you are talking about the cheat.dat for mame. Dont put it in its own folder, simply put the cheat.dat into your main mame folder then if you are using commandline mame, update the mame.ini. Next to where it says cheat_file, type cheat.dat (or whatever the name of your datfile is). Scroll down a little further to core options and where it says 'cheat' change the '0' to a '1'.

If you are using Mame32 then click 'options' followed by 'default game options', then 'miscellaneous' and click the box to enable cheats.
