Gameshark codes with no$gba

I found some gameshark codes for Pokemon FireRed to give me new pokemon. I clicked on the cheats button, and put in the code and selected gameshark v1/v2. Accepts the code, but then how do i actually make it work in the game?

i couldnt get my ROM to load in VBA...it only gives me a white screen when i open it.
