My current web host has an "acceptable use policy" that forbids ROMs, emulators, torrents, adult content, and even "foul language", legal or not! I want the freedom to have a page with the word "fuckballs" linked to porno ROM torrents with emulators, just because I can! Having my own server is definitely not an option, nor is paying $100 a month. Is there any hope for me?

By the way, thank you for not making "fuckballs" against the forum rules…

For the record, leasing a dedicated resver will not give you that liberty either as it is very easy for somebody to send an email to your hosting provider to take you down. Trust me, we have had those things here before.

Home Appache server FTW?
I know nothing about this. If it requires that I build one myself, I don't have that kind of knowledge. Plus, the last thing I need is a computer in this house running 24/7, using my Internet connection. As I said in my last post, "Having my own server is definitely not an option…".

Yeah, I figured as much, since the folks who lease dedicated servers have the same policies that are anti-"piracy", legal or not. If these hosts are so afraid of liability, why don't they make it part of their policy to state that their users are totally responsible for their own content?

Any other suggestions? :(

Most home servers like that are against ISP terms and conditions anyway, unless you've specifically purchased a business line.

It doesn't matter if they state the user is responsible for their content either. They can be sued or whatever right along with the user simply by reason of enabling them.
