I'm sure there'll be a patch for it. Anyway, I'm sticking with Windows XP for the next... seven years?

i'm getting bored of XP. vista is too bloated. I gave up on trying to install ubuntu.

I wouldn't worry about that until you get a HD DVD drive and actually watch them on your computer in full proper HD.
I am using Vista now and it is working great.

I'm not installing Vista until I get my DirectX 9.0c video card. Hopefully I'm getting it next week.

Nice article. :)
Better stick with XP for now. Some people had difficulties with it recently.

This always happens when a new version comes out. I still remember what a mess we had when XP was released.
In any case people, nobody is forcing you to use Vista, just install Linux or get a Mac...

That's right. I've installed Vista not so long ago and, besides the absense Aero Glass (because of my DirectX 8.1 card), most of my programs are incompatible with this new version.

XP was the smoothest OS transition I ever made. Now if only they made an IE that worked right..

Internet Explorer 7 works great.
All the crap about Vista DRM, people do not understand it does not apply to anything you already have. It won't affect DVD playback.
It is simply saying that Microsoft (due to pressure from Record Labels, Movie Labels) added support for a new type of DRM that will be utilised on HD content, simply an attempt from those companies to stop people from illegally copying it, If you have a screen capable of displaying HD content then you will get it.
If you play HD content using analog outputs to a 1024x768 VGA CRT monitor and expect great results and not downsized quality then you need to rethink your display system.
Vista is going great, I have had nothing but a better eXPerience with it.
@Butters, what programs do you use that are incompatible?

Nokia PC Suite, mainly. I don't have any problems with other programs.
Oh, and I bought a DirectX 9 video card today so I can use Aero Glass now :D

Have you tried applying Compatibility mode to the install/program files?
What video card did you get?

Yes, I've tried the compatibility mode and it didn't work. I switched from Radeon 9200 SE (DirectX 8.1) to Radeon X1600 Pro (DirectX 9.0c), but I haven't tried the Aero Glass thing yet. I'm currently using Windows XP Service Pack 2 and I think I'm gonna stick with it for one more year.

Maybe Nokia will update their software soon.
