It's a bit late to post this, but since nobody talked about this I'll give the first step...

Wii piracy kicks off with Red Steel
Hackers hard at work on cracking Nintendo's Wii, with Red Steel the first victim.
Aussie-Nintendo.com.

December 22, 2006 - Nintendo has long made a massive priority of protecting its intellectual property to the point that it even holds back from adopting new technology, with both the Nintendo 64 and GameCube making use of inferior storage mediums, as a barrier against hackers.

Wii, however, makes use of more standard 12cm optical discs, and after just four weeks of being available around the globe, the first report of a hacked game has been made by a group calling themselves 'Paradox'.

They boast, "Here we are again bringing you another world first, a full DVD image of one of the best Wii games to date, Red Steel," adding, "Thanks to all our friends who helped make this release possible."

The disc image, or single file containing the complete contents of the game disc, is currently totally useless, but the team is hopeful that it won't be long before it will be playable. Further, they declare, "Let the hacking and exploration of the Nintendo Wii begin!"

There are already more than 10 games ripped ATM. The method is 'fairly simple' and takes about 50 hours per disc
As you probably know, PS3 images are also already available.

Nothing can beat piracy, as far as I'm concerned. It makes me think that they are faulty.

What do you mean? That Nintendo is faulty or the pirates?
IMHO you should only 'pirate' systems which are not in production anymore, so only PSX and lower.

Piracy in my country is one of the highest in Latin America and yes, Nintendo and other corporations are guilty (not faulty :p). How's that possible that the console is US$ 1,120 worth here? And the games, US$ 120 each.

And they blame piracy

the truth its that here in LA the machines and games are expensive, for example:
in COLOMBIA a coke its $800 (standar 350ml bottle) = U$ 0.25 and its the most popular drink in the country

the Wii price its $1.000.000 = U$ 416 / U$250 price at ebay
average games are $ 180.000 = U$ 75 / U$50 price at ebay

so as it happes to all consoles, gamers have to wait for chips to arrive so they can save enough money for the machine and save at games.

tha happens with psx, ps2 and xbox, the worst of all piracy where the psx in wich our pirates created their own games and the people buy it from them.

im not a piracy supporter but i have to save six month payment for buying a wii and i got a good job im an engineer, for each game i have to save a month (that its doing the xtreme saving).

So NINTENDO and all companys have to understand that higher prices means higher intensions to save money.

Comparing prices across different countries is futile in the end, unless you have a degree in economics or something
