I mounted a mds file on Daemon Tools, and when I run ePSXe and press the Run CD button a window pops up, and I am asked to pick a file to run.
The mds doesn't show up, only the games rar file so I am thinking there must be something I don't know about using the programs (epsxe and daemon tools).

make sure you configured your cd rom plugin correctly.
Alternatively, just choose run iso and select the mds file.

I located the virtual cd rom drive, but it asks me to pick a file within the drive, and I have no idea which one to pick.
When I play it as an ISO that the screen just turns blank.

hm.. that shouldn't be the case.
What game are you trying to run and what is the file extension for the image file?

hm.. mds is an alcohol120% image which isn't supported by epsxe. Convert the image into a .bin or .iso image instead.

I tried using magiciso and it says that it can't find the image or the file isn't a cd image.

This isn't preschool, and no one here is gonna wipe your ass for you.
