Please help :Unable to run my PS1/PS2 controler using ePSXe

I bought a USB to PS/PS2 player convertor so that i can play games on my PC using PS/PS2 controler. I am able to run the games but with the keyboard. I have winXp and when i connect the controler it seems that WinXP recognize the controler and installed the required driver but I am unable to use controler in the PS one games. Please help me.
