Problem playing Final Fantasy 9 on xpsxe 1.6

For some reason when I start my final fantasy 9 iso it goes about 10x faster than it should and when I try to put a framerate limit of 59.976fps on it, it just doesn't load at all. Are there any special config settings for this game?

Ok, thats resolved itself, somehow, the problem I have now is that I can't get my joypad to work as it seems to only accept keyboard configurations?
