why won't gameshark codes work in my vba-link emulator in pokemon ruby?

none of the pokemon cheats work...i use the master code and i use the pokemon code and thats it, no work :(.

are you using the vba??
if so,did you go to the cheat list click on gameshark and enter the cheat?
