Help me with Pokemon Emerald codes

So, yeah, I'm looking for codes for Pokemon Emerald, and I found a bunch, but they confuse me, I'm using Visual Boy Advance, and these are the codes I've found. Help me figure this out?

AR-0.2. VisualBoyAdvance

All Action Replay codes in this guide can be used on
VisualBoyAdvance. Please ensure you have the latest stable release
of VisualBoyAdvance.

To enter codes, goto Cheats->Cheat list... then click on "Gameshark".
Copy and paste the codes as they appear in this guide into the
"Code:" box.

To remove the effect of codes, select the codes and click 'Remove'.
To remove the effect of ROM Patch codes, you may be required
(depending on your version of VBA), to hard reset your game. To do
this, press Ctrl+F1 after saving your game.

Yeah, and, it's not working, all I get is Houndoom, not Ivysaur, Bulbasaur, or anything.

make sure you are putting the codes in correctly.

^.^ that would be my question. The code looks like this:

I take out the BULBASAUR part, since it won't let that in there anyway, I copy and paste it in the code box, a few times I've put "Bulbasaur" as the description, other times I haven't, and I still only get Houndoom, no matter where I go, or what code I put in, all I can get in ANY location is Houndoom.

just as i thought... You didnt read anything on that page but the codes...
That is a ROM Patch code not an action replay code scroll down almost to the bottom of the page to see the AR codes.

Thanks, I did read instructions, but, I've never really used codes for a ROM before, or really anything. else. Just walkthroughs. Thanks so much for your help.

Ok so I know this is probably a necro, but i'm also having trouble with this. I copy and paste the code into the cheat list under gamershark. Its says its enabled, but nothing happens.
I don't know what I did wrong.

can you help me too? my cheats are working but it stops when i try to catch cheatet pokemon.....any idea?

Have you any idea how i can get the cheats to work without that i have to reset the game?? they just make my emulator crash
