Hello, I'm new to the emulator world. I recently was playing Zelda using Jnes and I saved my game using the actual game and not the emulator. Needless to say after I shut down the emulator my game was lost. So, I'm looking for a emulator that can foremost save any game, be shutdown, and reopened with the ability of reopening that saved game. The choices for me areFCE ultra, Nessie, nesten, and nestopia.

I have a dual-pentium chip, a 256ram memory, and a 256 ati radeon graphics card so I would like the most powerful emulator or the one with the best graphics and fastest speed. I use windows xp also. Please help me make a decision or give me information.

Well, I use VirtuaNES and it works fine. We're talking NES emulation here. Graphically, they all look virtually identical and run at perfectly emulated speed. Also, if you have problems with saving to the game file, most emulators support save states which allow you to save at any time during the game. The save states aren't deleted when you close the program either.

Well, I tried with Jnes and it didn't work. It saved a file with a jnes extension I believe. However, as soon as I shut down the program the file was gone. Anyways, do any of the programs I mentioned have help files that could explain to me how to save a game or other useful information.

Yes, I assume most emulators downloaded from sites like this come with documentation.

Also, most emulators have a key mapped for saving a state and another key mapped for loading a state. It's very easy.

Nestopia is rated best but it can't hurt to try them all.
