Need to know the basics

Hi im new. So new, that i dont actually know what I am doing.

Ive never used an emulator before and i need someone to help me get started.

My brother and i used to play on our sega and sega megadrive years ago but now we cant use it with modern TVs so i thought, maybe the games can run in windows. They cant.

I thought, maybe an emulator. So i searched and found this site's emulators. They look cool and they look like they could do what i need but i just cant get started.

Can someone help me?
