the best video plugin for a game is the one that works. You're not going to suddenly have FFX graphics if you pick the best plugin. Just play around and follow the config guide.

okay. thanx. sorry about posting this thread twice.

I finally got final fantasy 7 to work up until the part on the 1st disc where Tifa asks Cloud about forgetting about their childhood promise (right after going back to the hideout in the very beginning). He doesn't remember and then he leans his head back. That is where the screen goes black and the music still plays but it stays black. How do i fix that? Could it maybe be that i am using the wrong cd rom plugin?

I have a cheap 2002 gateway computer.
I have not replaced the original graphics card
in this particular computer which is:
Intel (R) Extreme Graphics (pretty gay)
I have:
504 MB of RAM
2799 Mhz Processor Speed

Here is the config of the plugin i am usin.

Pete's DSX D3D Driver 1.76

color depth: 32 bit
Textures
Texture quality-don't care Hi-Res texture-none
Texture filtering- standard w/o sprites Gfx card vram-0 (autodetect)

Framerate
i have Use FPS limit checked and the Auto-detect FPS/Frame skipping limit on

Compatability
off-screen drawing=standard
advanced blending=hardware
framebuffer textures=gfx card buffer
framebuffer access= 0: emulated vram- ok for most games
i have Alpha Multipass and Mask bit checked

Misc
i have Unfiltered framebuffer updates, color dithering, and special game fixes checked.
The only thing in special game fixes i have checked is-adjust framebuffer access.

I like to use pete's openGL plugin, but this depends on your graphics card. Config it like you'd config the typical PSX game
