explore/extract .smc (rom) files

Hi,

i wonder if its possible to explore the rom files of super nintendo games
or is it possible to extract the midi/sound files from the roms?

i searched the whole internet i think but i couldnt find any smc explorer or something

I know the snes9x team worked on this at one point. They had a smc player I thought.
