Psx emu on Psp?

Alright, I have a psp and want to play a psx game on it that does not use r2 or l2 but I'm not sure if the psx emulator will work with the psp any advice would be appreciated.

There was a playstation emulator for the psp that someone was working on (For firmware 1.5) but it think they have given up since sony annouced they would release there own playstation emulator persumable for later firmware versions and at a cost.
