WII'S TECH SPECS PARADED.
EB Games unveils Wii's final tech specs. Plus: ATi chief joins the Wii love-in, says 'it's about the innovation'
EB Games, the big US online retailer, has opened for business when it comes to ordering Nintendo's Wii, with an initial order listing for the console, which we expect to debut in November or more likely December over here in Europe.
Surprisingly, for a Monday morning, we're not going to turn this into a 'guess the Wii release date' debate, but rather reveal the tech specs that EB Games has published alongside its ad, to give you a clue as to how it might actually perform.
Of course, most of them are already on the record, and comparisons with the PS3 and Xbox 360 are largely redundant given each next-gen console's differing architecture, but it's the first external naming of the specs, so we thought we'd share.
Meanwhile, John Swimmer, ATI's Senior PR Manager has also joined the Wii love-in, in an interview with GameDaily.biz where he promised what we saw of the Wii at E3 was "just the tip of the iceberg".
However, Swimmer then surprised us further by saying, "I really don't think that it's about the [specs]. I think it's about the innovation that it brings to the table. The motion-sensing, the always-on capability, which is really cool too - the fact that the chip is powerful enough and responsive enough to be there at a moment's notice, and I think that's pretty cool for the average gamer."

Still a very respectable price
belmont
June 12th, 2006, 10:49
Yes a very good price indeed...
Since PS2 will cost 600$ and the X-box 360 costs 400$ it may have an advantage.I still think that it will fail though. No Final Fantasy, not Resident Evil...

AFAIK there will be versions of both these games for Wii. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
If I remember correctly Wii will have FF:Crystal Chronicles 2.
If you played the first one on GC you will now that it is crap compared to the basic series. FF13 will be on PS3 only, just as it happens now.
Resident Evil 5 was announced for PS3 and X-Box 360. There is no Wii version yet.

like belmont said, with the lesser of the three in price, the edge is there. I'm just glad that nintendo's Wii will be able to play Gamecube. Yet another BIG plus for them. *thanks them* >.> took long enough though. :bleh:

WII TO HAVE EPISODIC CONTENT.
Speaking to Game Informer, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime said that Wii Connect 24 would be able to deliver new content to players.
“(…) You’ve gotten to a particular part in a game, we could push content out to you, so you get to battle a new boss. Maybe you get a new artifact; Maybe you get a new weapon…“
Could this be the next big Wii secret? Downloadable content for games like Zelda: Twilight Princess. Imagine getting a new weapon, or even small expansion pack with a single dungeon.

Will Wii Connect 24 be free?

As it will use the Nintendo WiFi Connection it will be free for online play, but probably not for all content.

Why the fuck was it renamed?? :S
Damn, I really have not payed any attention to consoles :P
Anyways, that Wii Connect 24 thing sounds like another way to make money... you connect and buy items... whoopie... seems like a premium item kinda deal... But hell, I might be completly wrong here.

Hopefully the wii version of Zelda TP’s controls are not to difficult I want to buy the at launch. Also they changed the controls from what we saw at E3 to swing your sword you use the remote now instead of the B button the B button is used to shoot your bow now.

Well I don't really agree...
Ninty tried to lower the price only on GameCube many times with total failure of course. Now it only costs 99 euro cheaper even than GBA!
Nintendo prices GBA games for 50 euro and NES Classics for 20 euro!!!!
20 years old games for 20 euro!!!!!!!!!
These prices are totally unacceptable.

I will buy the new Zelda but I'll stick with the GameCube version.
I have not decided about buying a Wii or not yet but I really don't like the new control system.

There is knew info about the resident evil game for Wii. The game was now given the title resident evil: the umbrella chronicles the game will take place between RE: Code Veronica and RE4. The game will have RE4 style gameplay with the Wii remote acting as a light gun.
heres the whole story:
"Read this from a games magazine in HK today - its called Biohazard : Umbrella Corp Chronicles and fills in the story on Umbrella before and leading to BH4. Gameplay is a mix between using the Wiimote as a light gun and BH4 style elements e.g. action buttons pressing X for a dramatic scene. It features scenarios from BH1 (museum), BH2 (police station), BH3 (raccoon city), BHCV and BH4 (village) and ties in the gaps especially BHCV and BH4. Characters include Chris/Claire, Leon / Ada, Jill / Carlos, Rebecca, Hunk and Wesker . There are two gameplay modes - scenario mode and arcade mode. Proper announcement to be made by Capcom at TGS." - NeoGaf
