Yesterday I've learned how to dump textures with Rice's video and started to look more closely at textures. One of many contribution plans for this site are texture packs. My work in progress is Super Mario 64 textures and it's looking very good so far.

Comments are good for my inspiration

Come on, no comments? :verysad:

Okay, the game is looking great, at least outside of the castle where I'm currently working on. The completion rate for retexturing this zone is about 75%.

I have to say those textures look pretty mint, great effort. Is it hard to retexture expeically when working with a ROM? Would we have to download something that'll patch an existing SM64 ROM file, I'm guessing we can't just download a prepatched ROM as that would be illegal. It would be great if we could see that kind of thing on the downloadable N64 games for the Wii.

Hard? It isn't hard, but there are a lot of textures to change and it takes a lot of time. Don't worry about the patch thing because all you need to have is the Rice's video plugin (go to emutalk.net for further info) and the texture pack I'm currently uploading. The texture pack is just a bunch of JPGs, PNGs, BMPs, etc which are the textures that are going to be loaded by Rice's plugin.

I'm posting detailed instructions in another new thread.

About the N64 game for Wii, I'm mostly sure that textures will be the original ones, but the screen resolution and frame rate will be higher than the N64 console and emulators as well.

I'm defiently going to be using this mod.
I love the ultra real look you are going for.

Are you going to put any little easter eggs in it?

I wish I had that title (and try it out with emulators mentioned) to compare yours and me. That's why I can't comment much. :p

That's pretty nice man, though I think the water needs a bit of work.. Not a big fan of grey bridges either, but it's alright looking overall.

Thanks again. I'm making my best to complete this project 100% (or at least 95% of it).

Since I'll be sharing my project with other Super Mario 64 projects in emutalk.net, I'm planing to release a Complete Texture Pack (they'll be credited too), which consist in 3 subpacks:

World Texture Pack.
Characters Texture Pack.
Sprites Texture Pack.

All of this for the final release there in October.

By the way, these are the changes done so far today:

World 1 (Bomb-Omb Battlefield) almost complete (around 80% of completion).
1UP mushroom has been given a classic SNES look.

To answer the first question, it works on both Project64 and 1964 or any emulator that supports Rice's Video Plugin.

To answer the second question, no. I can't make her hotter because I can't edit 3D objects.

It's currently stopped, but not dead. I'm waiting for the release of Project64 1.7.

I thought 1.7 wont released to us but to the donators only.

Jale

Project64 1.7 is in beta stage and it's for donators only. They'll release the final version to the public later.

This is the latest version of pj64, which is currently avaliable only to donators. It is not likely to be avaliable to the public for a long time. But if you want a free version you can always download 1.6 below.

The current 1.7 download for donators is not final and is changing as new features and fixes are put in to place, and is a great way for you the user to support the pj64 team.

It is available in the newsgroups. The PJ64 team won't like it, but it has 'leaked'.

Nay. I'll start when the version is final.
