Recently I've gotten FF 7 and I've tried to run it on epsxe 1.6.0, however every time I start it up the emulator automatically crashes and I have no clue how I should fix it, can anyone help me out on this?

The plugin I am using is Pete's OpenGL driver 1.76

The settings are

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.76
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
GFX card: RADEON 9700 PRO x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE

Resolution/Color:
- 800x600 Window mode
[32 Bit]- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- B8G8R8A8
- Filtering: 4
- Hi-Res textures: 0
- VRam size: 0 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 4
- Framebuffer texture: 0
- Framebuffer access: 4
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: off
- Advanced blending: on

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: off
- 15 bit FB: off
- Dithering: off
- Screen smoothing: off
- Screen cushion: off
- Game fixes: on [00000001]

And I have no clue why it is doing this, does anyone think they know the problem to this?

I had the emulator on the computer before with the same game, and I know it had this same problem, but I am absolutely stumped to how I fixed it (Because I remember playing it through and I want to go back now), the Final Fantasy ROM is an ISO, thanks for any help!

Edit: For any curious, I did buy this game when it came out, however I have lost the first disk and have since been unable to play it, as well as having no unbroken PS or PS2's

Have you tried other video plugins like PEOpS Soft GPU ?

Actually I just now found the problem, I had forgotten to download a BIOS, no wonder it wouldn't work no matter the setting.

Sorry for bothering you all.

Actually I do have one more question, does anyone know the optimal sound plugin for the game? I've been playing around and I can't seem to find a good one, though I'm not sure if I just haven't been doing the exact settings right.

Eternal SPU it's probably the best sound plugin, the next is P.E.Op.S.
With Eternal try playing a bit with the "Audio out method" to see which works better for you

I have the same problem. It happens right at the beginning when the guards or whomever charge at Cloud. I do have Bios installed: Scph1001.Bin.

Kind of makes me mad. I've waited so long to play this, too.

Any infos about your PC specs?

Plus, it is recommendable that you use P.E.Op.S GPU (Try to pick both 'Nice' and 'Fast' settings to check the difference before you make up your mind on the settings) and Eternal SPU plugins.

Good luck!
