im using TGB Dual, and i want to use the link play with dragon warrior monsters, but i dont see any way to load files into GB2. The only file it will load is an individual save for GB2 and i dont know where that file is, so i dont know what file to replace if i was to do it that way.

basicaly, im asking if anyone knows how to load up new saves in GB2 (and i've just been a tard and not seen the option in game) or where the save file for GB2 is likely to be by default so i can replace it?

After weeks of trying to figure this out myself, I finally have it. This is a document I wrote up so I wouldn't forget this time around:

to trade between gb/gba games using tgb dual (for pokemon or whatever else)
simply copy the .sav file for the respective rom into a different folder,
rename it .sa2, and move it back into the original save folder. do this for as
many games as is necessary. as for how to get this .sav file (if you use vba
primarily at least), you have to actually save in the game as you would on the system
itself. the only other issue you might encounter is tgb auto loading different saves
for a given game when you load it in GB1/GB2. to fix this, take the save you want
(if it loads properly in GB2 for example), copy the .sa2 file into a different
folder, rename it to a .sav file, and put it back in the original folder, replacing
the old .sav file. vice versa if it loads properly in GB1 but not GB2.
