Thanks for the plugins, but the game still won't run. The screen goes pitch black and the ePSXe won't respond to anything. Is there any configure settings i must have? because i really wanna play this game soon.

Assuming you're talking about Tales o Eternia (Tales of Destiny II) try this:
Pete's OPEN GL1/OPEN GL2
OpenGL1:
* Lower the resoloution to 640x480
* Make sure FSAA and anisotropic filtering is off in your graphics card's control panel
* Set 'Hi-Res Textures' to 0
* Change Framebuffer Textures/Access to 2/3 or 3/3. Any other settings will likely leave you shafted in any areas which use framebuffer effects (and there are a few)
OpenGL2:
* Make sure FSAA and anistropic filtering is off in your graphics card's control panel
* Lower the internal X/Y resoloution to 1/1
* Disable 'Screen Filter'
* Enable 'No render-to-texture'
* Lower the resoloution to 640x480
* Set 'Hi-Res Textures' to 0
* Change Framebuffer Effects/Upload to 2/2, 2/1 or 3/1 - note: this will introduce a 'load' when framebuffer effects are called (like at the beginning of a battle)
Use Eternal SPU plugin too for audio.

Erh, It still won't run. The game is a MDS file that i run using Deamon tool. The game worked the first time i tried it but it was in 2x speed so i changed the plugins, but now i wont run. Can't any of you just take a screenshoot of your plugin settings so i can see for myself if i have the right ones.

.MDS and .MDF are Alcohol 120% images.
I use PEOpS Soft GPU for my ePSXe.
Don't have Tales of Eternia to check it though.
Try using a different emu like PSXeven.

Okey, finaly it works. But now it goes so fast that i can't even see the intro and the sound is like a dolphin getting a pitchfork up it's ass. I'm not a pro at emu's so i don't really know what to do next.

Check - Use frame limit
Check - Limit speed to 60 fps.

Reconfigure the graphic and sound respectively by click on 'configure' everytime you choose a plugin.
Click on 'Nice' setting on any Pete's GPU or P.E.Op.S GPU plugins. :cool:

(Doh!) How much I missed those Japanese titles, especially Tales of Eternia in which I bought it and later lost it. Now is pretty hard to be found here. :(

Why is it that the only english version of the game is on PSP? Sure you can buy the game on PSP but didn't the also come out on PSX? Either way, I'll just download a PSP emu if there is a good one to recommend.

English version of Tales of Eternia for PSP? Lemme double check...... (I thought that game was in Japanese version)
By the way, Tales of Eternia was originally Japanese version once it was released for PSX. Later then, it was renamed Tales of Destiny 2 (English version of Tales of Eternia) when it is released in US. :cool:

Okey, yeah there is a english versjon of Tale of Eternia on PSP. They even sell'em in the shops where i live:D
But since it's called tales of destiny 2, is it a continuation of tales of destiny?

Please take note that there is a little bit a confusion of both English and Japanese version of 'Tales of Destiny 2'.
Tales of Destiny II (PSX - English Version)
Is a English version of Tales of Eternia. And it was not a sequel to Tales of Destiny. Namco just made a mistake by renaming it while Tales of Destiny 2 was introduced in public in Japan (Just after the release of this game in US).
Tales of Destiny 2 (PS2 - Japanese version)
Is a actual sequel to the original Tales of Destiny game.

Darn, why must the japanese always keep the good stuff for themself?

Darn, why must the japanese always keep the good stuff for themself?
Because most of the people outside Japan HATE RPG's.
It won't sell.At some time (back in the around '98-'99) there were actually a couple of hundred titles for PSX unreleased in the US and Europe.
It's true.I mean...on emu sites I find lots of people who love japanese RPG's,anime and manga,but these are more refined people.
Most of the market outside Japan consists of FPS,MMORPG,platform and racing games.Some don't give a crap about RPG stories and say it's baby stuff.Compare Duke Nukem with some little girl character from one RPG.That's the way some see the problem.

Darn, why must the japanese always keep the good stuff for themself?
Due to the fact most western gamers like to play more real life look characters in 3D (Ex : Final Fantasy 8) than a simple cute characters in 2D as it is in Tales game series.
Hate RPG? It pretty seemed so. (People like to play more Action/Adventure type games these days.....) Normally Tales game series (Ex : Tales of Eternia) sold pretty well in Japan but poorly in US or Euro. Which is why Namco don't want to risk that for other Tales game series.
So far only few of them managed to get in US market. :cool:
Tales of Destiny
Tales of Destiny II (English version of Tales of Eternia)
Tales of Symphonia
Tales of Legendia

Yeah, well, i still think that way of doing things suck, i mean, sure there is a lot of people who don't like RPGs, but what about those who do like RPGs? Can't those Japanese guys open a web shop so those who do like RPGs like the Tales of series and don't live in Japan can buy the game for their console system (PAL)? I think that would be a great ide, well, not the fackt that you'll have to empty your wallet just to get the game delivered, but the fact that you'll be able to buy the games you want that you know won't show up in the shops where you live.
So far only Tales of Symphonia (GC) and Tales of Eternia (PSP) has come out in Europe(Norway), but i want more of the Tales of series:(

Well, there you go, the list of a great game series that only two of the games came to my country. Well, at least i haven't seen any of'em around. Ebay may be an option but i dubt i'll be able to find the PAL version of the games there. The only thing i can do is to thank God for emus and hope that the western may consider giving RPGs a chance.
Thanks for changing the title

Tales of Phantasia (SNES) is also only available in Japan, but it is translated by DeJap (http://www.dejap.com/top.php). The translation is excellent, so it's worth checking out :)

Tales of Phantasia (SNES) Is a good game, I have that for my ZSNES emu and i enjoyed the game til the end. Wasen't Tales of Phantasia the first Tales of game or are there any other that came out before?

April 14th, 2006, 19:57
Yes, SNES TOP is the first game released in the series.
The spin-offs named TOP: Narikiri Dungeon are often forgotten, the first on GBC and the rest on GBA. PSP's Tales of Eternia, the remake of the PSX TOE (Japanese) has been the first in the series to come across Europe. GBA's TOP remake has been the second (and removing the intro lyrics :eek: )

Oops, one game is forgotten to be listed. :p
Sony PlayStation
Tales of Fandom Vol. 1
Chrnodevil, could you please resize your banner under your signature? Thank you. :cool:

Sure ting, I'll just remove my banner, didn't really like it any way:p
When you say Tales of Fandom Vol. 1, are you saying that they are planing on making vol. 2? or is the game just named vol.1 for no spesial reason.
hagbard
April 15th, 2006, 15:35
I guess they supposed to make other volumes, but since it came out on 2002, I'm not sure if they'll release any newer version
Chrnodevil
April 15th, 2006, 19:08
I hope they do, You can't name a game vol.1 and make that final, thats just to lame. It's almost the same as making the lord of the ring movies and only give out the first two movies.
