Yep...I ran into a PSX problem myself.

1.Emulator ePSXe 1.6.0
2.Fighter Maker disc image
3.Have tried all video plugins and audio plugins
4.All other games work perfect with my ePSXe setup
5.Tried RUN -> ISO,RUN CD (image mounted with Daemon Tools)

problem: THE GAME FREEZES AFTER 4 SECONDS OF RUNNING.

So,the game boots OK,if I'm fast I can press Start and launch New Game...not more you could do in 4 seconds. The display is correct but FREEZES.

What can I do ? Is this game known to cause problems ?

Did you try it with PSXeven, SSSPSX, pSX or Xebra? I'll try it later for you if I remember

No.
If you don't have a solution to ePSXe,I'll try it sometime with PSXeven.
I don't roll with the others you mentioned. :D

Worthless testing, it's not the same game :( . Yours it's named "3D Kakutou Tsukuru" on NTSC-J / "Fighter Maker" NTSC-U, and don't have this one

Ok, thanks ;) You won a free test:

ePSXe: hangs after a few seconds, as you said
PSXeven: quits emulation while loading the character select screen:

FATAL ERROR: Invalid PC: 0x7f08087e
ERROR: Reserved opcode being called : 0x 50FF0 !!!! @0x7f080882
-- emu released due to error --
* Ended.

SSSPSX: crashes the emulator almost instantlly
Xebra: Hangs after the standard PSX game detected screen * (usually omited on most emulators, but not on the real PSX)
pSX: Shows the character select screen, then hangs when the game starts

* The game I got have the PSX loading screen hacked, it shouldn't affect emulation but you never know...

So the game doesn't work in emulators.I won't even bother to test it with PS2.
Thanks for the testing !

Nevermind, I enjoy testing even more than playing from time to time
