What's the extension on the files? If it's .img, it already IS an ISO.

it says its a RAR file. i dont know what that means or if its not a good game type?

...A Rar file is compressed. You have to extract the files. Go find the program WinRAR, you need it to open it. The game is IN the RAR file.

k thx ill try that. by the way do i need a program to make an image or something?

No. In the RAR file should be a IMG file, a SUB file, and a CCD file. Don't erase any of them. All you have to do is open your emulator, and tell it to run an ISO, then choose the IMG file. Have fun.

im having another problem. i am trying to open the IMG file with file emulator but i can't get to it. It just has the original file but not the specific .img file. do you know how to get to it? The game i am tryig to play is chronocross part1 by the way.

So to recap, you got WinRAR, and opened the RAR file with it, then extracted the files, right? On another note, I found that ePSXe will not play Chrono Cross, at least the file I have. Use PSXeven for it, it's a really good PSX emu too.

k yes i extracted the files and can see them but how do u get the emulator to run just the .img file? i will try the dif emulator though cause a few ppl have said that chrono cross doesnt work that great. I can see the 3 files in the .rar file. they are a folder, a ccd image, and a img image. but if i klik the original rar file a black screen coimes up.

another thing. do i need part 2 as well? i dont think i extracted just the .img file but when i double klik it a bar come up and starts loading u could say but it stops bout a third of the way through and says "you need to have the following volume to continue extraction" then it says chronocross part02. so i need to dl both?

Tsura
March 1st, 2006, 02:53
...Okay, no. You have to click the Extract to button in the rar to get them OUT of the Rar file and into your folder. Then click the IMG itself.

And Chrono Cross, at least mine, works just fine, but only on PSXeven.

do i extract the whole thing or the items inside the rar? and it wont le me extract the whole thing because it says it needs chrono cross part 2 so im dling that now and ill see if that works. do u have part1 and 2 for chorno cross? or did u?

Tsura

oooh. Yea, you need to get ALL the parts to it, then extract, it's not gonna work otherwise.

When it says Part 1 and 2, it doesn't mean CD 1 and 2, it means that the RAR is split up into several files. Get all the parts in the same folder, then extract the first one, that'll work.

k i might know y it isnt extracting. the site i got it off has 8 files each containing 40mb each cept the last 1 so i need to dl all 8 to extract? right now i only got the first 1 because i didnt know.

Yep, you need them all. Also, almost always the last one is smaller in size then the rest.

Mount the resulting image file with Daemon Tools,or burn it.
Or just Run ISO.

Btw, Chrono Cross needs an special command line option to run it on ePSXe 1.6.0 : -noauto . Otherwise, try 1.5.2 or PSXeven

k i have another question if some1 can help me again. I can run chrono cross on psxeven but it is going veeery slow. Can u make it run at almost normal speed as PS1 or is it just because of something with my computer?

also can u find out about your computer stuff like graphic card and how much ram and mhz it has just on the computer? i need to see how good it actually is.

Download and install PC wizard (http://www.cpuid.com/), it's free, then post your system specs. Of course it's possible to run Chrono Cross at 100% speed, but only if your system, emulator is fast enough and is properly configured, which shouldn't be so hard btw

k I got PC wizard now what exactly do you want me to post? then ill post it and hopefully some1 can help.

Processor speed, RAM memory, videocard +video RAM. That should be enough, I think.

k i hope i did this right tell me if i did it wrong.

Processor speed - 500 MHz
RAM Memory - 640MB (not sure if this is right)
Video card - 3dfx Voodoo3
Video RAM - 16MB (not sure if this is right)

Well i hope thats what you need but i have a little older comp. It's still Windows XP though.

I think you need a better PC for ePSXe.

I think you need a better PC for ePSXe.

I second that.

hagbard

Most probably, but you might run some games at decent speed at low resolutions and color depth, and no special effects (at least with a PII/III, I don't think so with Celeron or K6 I/II CPUs) Also with a 3DFX video card you're gonna need Lewpy's glide renderer or PEOpS soft GPU, Direct3D or OpenGL based plugins probably won't work

Chimpala

what if i got a better video card cause i no its bad would it help a lot of just a little?

Well, let's take a look at the ePSXe system requeriments:

The System you need for good performance often depends on the game you want to play. While for example a game with many complex graphics such as Final Fantasy 9 will require a rather fast PC, you'll be able to play Tekken 1 on a low-end PC already.

During our tests, we noticed a HEAVY difference between, for example, the AMD K6/2 - 500 Mhz processors and the PII 500 Mhz processors. It seems that the slow FPU of the AMD K6-x processors can cause up to 50% less speed than with a comparable Intel processor. The Athlon and Duron processors, however, don't experience this problem any more though.

Minimum system requirements :
P200MMX or compatible
64 MB of RAM
Fast graphic card (like the voodoo 2)
16x CD-Rom
Windows 9x
DirectX 7a

Recommended system configuration :
Pentium II 500 or faster
256 MB of RAM
A fast DirectX or Opengl compatible graphic card, e.g. the NVidia GeForce 2
Fast CD-ROM with good access times
Windows 2000 or XP
DirectX 8

As we said, results may vary. If you're above the recommended system configuration and still have problems, it might either be a bug in the emulator or a mis-configuration. For help with these issues, make sure to check the configuration part in this help file !

So I think it would improve somehow, but not sure if enough to be clearly noticeable

You could try on 'fast mode' which can be found from any Pete's GPU plugins, and set the FPS limit to 50. It might let the graphic looked horrible a bit but it still can be played faster though.

Pete's OGL/OGL2 won't work with your current video card, but not 100% sure about D3D. PEOpS and Lewpy's Glide should work.
