Make sur you're using ImbNES v1.3.2, the latest one. Then, follow these steps:

For saving from SRAM to memory card you must first save in the game then you shold press L1+R1+SELECT+START to reset the game. A screen will appear asking you to press: CIRCLE to save the SRAM to memory card X to cancel and do not save, just reset TRIANGLE+SQUARE to delete de SRAM on memory card for this game

Thanks to The ImbNES FAQ 0.4.2 for the good explanation

Again, press (and hold a bit) L1+R1+Select+Start , then the emu should ask to save or not.

If you don't proceed as I suggested, nothing will be saved, no matter if you can see the ImbNes save data in you Memory Card, so will load an empty file. In summary, save in the game while playing, then
L1+R1+Select+Start and "Circle" to store it on the MC.
