Hello

Me and my wife loved paying all the old Genesis and NES games on our Dreamcast however now that I own a Xbox I am curious what I need to do to be able to emulate those same games on the xbox. I have read that you need a "modchip", but I was unsure about the process. Once you get this modchip installed how do you get the emulators on the hard drive?? On the Dreamcast you just burn a CD and thats all you need. It sounds like you need the mod chip to be able to interface with the hard drive???

Any and all advice will be gladly accepted.

Thanks
Shawn

You need to hardmod (chip) or softmod (using some exploits with some games) your Xbox, then replace the original dashboard (a kind of BIOS/OS), but this is via software. The needed files might be transfered by FTP network connecting the Xbox with a PC, or from a CD-DVD.

This is a very basic explanation of the process, but you'll find very cool guides here (http://xbox-scene.com/xbox-tutorials.php?p=0|374|438|520|#0)

I heard that you won't be able to use Xbox Live after hard- or softmodding. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's true if have the the chip enabled or a modified bios, but you can boot with the chip disabled to connect Xbox Live, or reflash the Dashboard with the retail one. There are others ways too:
