And downloading through Kazaa is really lame. I downloaded it through torrent and it took me 8 hours.

And yes, you'll need DivX. Once you installed DivX, you can play it with any media player (Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc..).

Go to this page (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) and download VLC media player. All you have to do after you install it just open the movie with it.

You will need no extra codecs.

Alternatively try to use XviD codec if the format of the file is AVI.

You should have also posted a lecture about how evil most codec packs are as well ;)

ALL codec packs are evil. It's really NOT recommended to use them.

The only codec pack with any merit is CCCP. If you want to use a
codec pack, use that pack.

All my gosh, too many codecs!

Luckilly I picked one package from Doom9 as it should be solved on any problems. ;)

Just install the individual files in the link GHDpro posted earlier and you will have no problems(mostly).

I merged the two threads together since they deal with the same movie.

Try using vsfilter from the link GHDpro posted or use this (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/).

are there any subtitle files? If there are not and the subtitles do not show up, most likely the movie that you downloaded do not have subtitles.

you need a program such as vosub to view the subtitles on your media player since they are not embedded in. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/VobSub.htm

You might load subtitles (.sub in your case) with MPC (http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/) as well. The .sfv file it's made to check the integrity of the download data, with software like QuickSFV (http://www.quicksfv.org/) for example (there're many others).

I always use bearshare, been using it for about a year now and haven't had one problem, this is probably because i always have the top security, and if the size of the item is too small or big, i know not to download, just gotta be smart.
