Legal ROMs?

Hi there, I want to package a Genesis emulator for Fedora, but the guidelines say it can't be done unless the ROMs are legally available (see here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackagingGuidelines#head-4d63b58a785c7ad700d54d2bf60be66bb43f807d)

On this page (http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/roms.html) you say that there are ROMs that are legally available for the Genesis. Can you confirm this? Are there any documents that substantiate this? According to the Fedora packaging FAQ: "If it requires ROMs (or image files in any format) of copyrighted or patented material to be useful (and the owners of those copyrights and patents have not given their express written permission), then it's not permitted."

So if there are *any* Genesis ROMs that can be shown to be legally available, then we can go ahead. Any help you can give with this will be great.

thanks,
joshua

I read some where that the creature of many spectrum games was allowing people to download his spectrum games to play on an emulator for free. I dont know if this was true or if it was made up by someone just to get you to donwload the games.
