This isn't meant as spam, although the thread title might suggest otherwise.

apocalypse835's sig says "Best movie Character: Gimli". That's sad. Gimli is a character from a book. Books are those papery things people used to read before they started getting their 'culture' fix from Maddox and fucking Slashdot. I'd quite like it if kids would grow up with a clear distinction between Hollywood and literature.

Technically, I'd say he counts as a movie character, since he was in a movie, and I'd consider the way he was portrayed in the movies to make him a completely different character than he was in the books, but I agree with the basis of your post.

Frankly, I thought the LOTR movies took out the parts of LOTR that made it unique from an average fantasy book...

Oh well, "the idiot is cloning and feeding", as they say.

Hey, think about this: Gimli is my FAV movie character AND my fav character from a book, I don't read a lot of books, so i put down Movie character. Just coz he's from a book doesn't mean he's not from a movie too.
