Since the release of "Nintendogs" we are all wondering what Nintendo is aiming it's games at? Young 8 year old girl gamers? Ok, yea Nintendo might have had SOME decent games, but is Nintendogs a look into the future for Nintendo? Are these the games we should expect with the Revolution, and if that is the case, is it going to loose all competition with the new x box 360 and ps3?? Any feed back, thoughts, comments would be apppreicated.

edit: crap i just realized i posted this in the wrong place, could a mod please move it.

Nintendo isnt losing it. Sure there game development for different stuff may seem wierd, but it's a change for the better.

How is it a change for the better? Seems like to me they're going for last ditch efforts so save themselves.

Deezbeez, you cant forget that nintendo still has there old game titles,
mario, zelda, and ummm..., yeah there new stuff is geared tword kids sadly
but nintendo's goal is to make games for all ages, they are doing that with more and more parents complaining about violent games

Deezbeez

Nintendo's goal is to save there asses by maing games for little kiddes. Granted they have had good titles in the past and might possibly in the future but you can't help but admit that they're doing whatever they can to make some money.

but nintendo's goal is to make games for all ages=Nintendo's goal is to save there asses by maing games for little kiddes

that gameboy micro is a prime example of there money making scheme
get the parents(who have the money) to buy there [explict] merchendise
nintendo even said that is the goal of the micro,
why push the micro when they have the DS, money making scheme,
and yes people do fall for it

But the only way they're going to succed is by being little bitches about it, selling out in a sense. It kinda sickens me to see how nintendo use to be and now they have to go to this just to make some money.

absolutely, sega too, i mean look at the newest sonic games, geared tword little kids, not as good as sonic 3, these new games are the are good reasons to use emulators

Ninty tried to obtain people from all ages but failed.
The GameCube had only two 18+ games (Eternal Darkness,RE4).
GBA had only a few 16+ games (I think these were the Castlevania ones)
It is clear that, beside Nintendogs and the new Pokemon games,Nintendo wants to change this on DS (and Revolution) with games like Castlevania:Dawn of Sorrow and Resident Evil DS.
I think the plan will fail again.Everyone has understood that 1st party Nintendo games will be for children and only some 3rd party games will be for adults.

its called the Teddy Bear scheme, Windwaker, good game, cartoon like so that parents will buy it, and at the end i still got to stab Ganon in the head, loved every minuet of the game, but the cel shading made me feel like i needed to grow up

I remeber seeing that game for the first time thinking "well this is preety good for gba" then as i found out it was cube my jaw dropped open. Will games every go back to real quality for nintendo or will it be this kiddy shit forever?

ticktock

my magic 8 ball says "kiddy shit forever"
well at least twlight princess is coming out

belmont
September 13th, 2005, 12:09
Wind Waker was the worst Zelda game ever made.I didn't like it at all.
I don't think twlight princess will save anything,it is very late for Game Gube.
We'll see what will happen in the next generation of consoles.

ticktock

wind waker was far from the worst, have you ever heard of Faces of Evil?

I hate to break it to all your experts but you need to get your heads checked.

Nintendo is not "saving their asses", is not changing the way they make games because soccer moms or senator's are bitching about violence, and is certainly not making games to cater to "8 year old girls"

Do any of you even know anything about Nintendo?

Nintendo has ALWAYS made games for children. ALWAYS. There have been more mature games put out sure, but Nintendo's focus has ALWAYS been simple games kids can enjoy, and older players can appreciate for their technical challenges.

How many of you grew up on Nintendo? How many of you have played even the most primitive NES games? I bet half of you people complaining are just angst ridden teenagers who can't even beat games without half-assed Gameshark codes.

Mario, Zelda - Newsflash! Kids titles... All the more mature games on Nintendo's systems have historically come from third party developers, except for rare instances. Nintendo has always made innovative and different games that no one else has tried, and they will keep doing it for years to come.

Nintendo did for consoles what Bill Gates did for IBM PC's. They know who their core consumer base is, and they are in NO danger of dying. Even if their NA foothold was ever destroyed, they would live on in Japan with no problem

belmont

Nintendo has always made innovative and different games
I disagree.ALL the Zelda and Pokemon games are exactly the same. The only things that change are 3d grafics etc.The gameplay is the same.

Even if their NA foothold was ever destroyed, they would live on in Japan with no problem
If it hadn't been for GBA Nintendo would know be a 3rd party developer, just like SEGA.

I'll need as little more than a simple opinion to believe the GBA saved Nintendo period.

And all Zelda and Poke'mon are the same ? Poke'mon I'll give you, but have you ever even played all of the Zelda games, or at least looked at them for more than 5 minutes ? Every time I see a new one there is some new fangled tool to play with, or a bigger world, different puzzles.... Damn, have you even played Zelda II on NES? It looks nothing like the first game.

And while we're at it, just how do 2 games define an entire companies product line? If you are going to judge a game based on how it looks and not on how it plays mechanically, then you should just sit down and forget about it.

All games with the same title tend to be the same game with new stuff, its how sequeals work. if not it turns out like Faces of Evil. i could say all final fantasy games are the same by the logic that is given to say all zelda games are the same

but regardless Nintendo is in danger not because of its game titles, but because it cant keep up with the richer companies of sony and microsoft.
they simply cant afford to create the same powerful hardware, and by staying out of the online gaming race, they sortof lost already

nintendos goal is to desinged to make games playable for all ages

i still find the mario and zelda games fun at times
when i was ten, i thought the pokemon games were fun
if i was ten again, would i still play the pokemon game, its a good chance
would i play it now, not really, its the same shit over and over
but so is megaman and i still find that fun

Most of Nintendo games are really great, if you know how to enjoy them. People who have played old Nintendo games are usually the ones who enjoy the new sequels. So you can't judge every game just because you think you are too mature to play it.

The way you value a game is not just the fact the last sequel was bad, or just because some crazed gamer that prefers bloody games told you that Nintendo games are for girly players... No way, you have to evaluate all the concepts: music, graphics, game play, and the story.

I love Nintendo games but I also enjoy playing war, adventure and strategic games that are a challenge.

It was said by someone from Nintendo.

I have Zelda 2 (GBA,Classic NES series) you are right about this but in all Zelda games you have the same items and have to solve the same riddles. And yes I've beaten all of them. The Zelda games don't have interesting stories.Except Link's Awekening(the best Zelda game,in my opinion) and Majora's Mask all the others have the same "save Zelda and kill Ganon" thing.

This doesn't happen. In FF games the characters and the story changes.

Are you nuts? Majora's mask is about finding the giants to stop the moon from hitting wherever you are and you have to beat that crazy kid with the mask, i don't see any ganon or zelda stuff in there.

can i change my awnser to megaman?
if a forumula works, its probably not gonna be changed
they've been doing the hero saves a princess thing for years in millions of games, movies, and comics
it works, the question of why the same forumla works should be debated...

Zach

The central story for all FF games has always been a love story. Names and plots may differ, but really, they are just as much the same game as you would argue any Zelda game to be.

And still, someone from Nintendo said the GBA saved them? Who was it? Where? When? LINK ?

I am no Nintendo fanboy, probably the farthest from it, but I am finding a lot of the assumptions and 'facts' being tossed around in this thread a little hard to swallow.

But as my good friend has just noted in a conversation, "In a world full of mindless idiots, innovation can kill"

Can't blame Nintendo for consumers in the end.. That's beyond their control

Zelda games are probaly the most attracting games for the nintendo ever created.
I played every one, yet have not gotten bored.

However, nintendo was mainly directed towards kids/teens. 64 was the best of its time, the first 64 - bit console, and great graphics for its time...

Legend of zelda was most attracting to me for many reasons.

How many adventure games of its time let you do so much, ride horses, large game?

I dont exactly like the nintendo DS.
It is directed towards adults, (Thats not the bad part).
The worst is : It is directed to make tons of money, unlike the 64.
The 64 : All ages, 3+, Made to be the 64 - bit console, and for a little money, and lots of fun for it's players.
The creators spent a long time creating it, but yet, they made much more prophit than they expected.

Next came the gamecube, wich was a great console, but still was directed more towards money. Many other small nintendo consoles came out, some of them were aborted.
Then came the DS..........

If anyone out there wants to buy a nintendo console, I personally suggest 64 or GC.

the thing about Nintendo that differs it from others is that they don't pull out the grafix the same as the others(sure in GC there's Resident Evil, RE:ZERO and RE4, and maybe others). What I mean is, compare for example Playstation with Nintendo 64: N64 had more Bits, there for could create better grafix, but like many of you here said and as i agree nintendo's goal is to make games more for kids so the grafix may have been a little more "clean " on the n64 like on super mario 64, but the playstation with less Bits would detail more. And don't forget that capcom released Resident Evil 2 also for Nintendo 64 but if you look at the grafix between the too consoles on that game, it hasn't changed a thing. It simply was converted.

And on the Gamecube we can see an example which is called Wario Ware Inc Mega Party. Come on it's cool on the GBA and the DS as Wario Ware Touched, but for the GC i guess they could have made better don't you agree?

Sure i liked the thing about the GC being powered by ATI(which is the grafix company i personally prefer) but the truth is they didn't care about the grafix as long as the kids, and i repeat the Kids, would enjoy the games and have fun.

I'm not saying i don't like Nintendo(i have a GC and before i wanted to buy a N64) but i think they could take much more from the games they create and show their hardware's true power.

I don't see why they make the games for kids when teenagers and adults have more money.

RockY

Many players still love those classic mario, metroid, zelda, fox games, etc... And that's why nintendo keeps making them.

Some games are really cool and some others just suck. In a market like this the diversity is always welcome.

Diversity leads to competition, and competition leads to improvements.

go to the nintendo site and check out the master games list. there is a column called rating. if you sort the list by rating check how many pages there are with thinks for mature generations due to explicit violence and gore or nudity. about nudity i think there's only one, BMX XXX. but the other systems also don't have much in nudity but about violence well that's a different story.
