MAME CHEAT HELP !!

i got the cheat file from http://cheat.retrogames.com/ and I put it on the mame directory. I'm playing Ultimate Mortal kombat 3, my question is how do I activate the hidden characters?? i press tab, then go to Cheat, the enable/disable cheats, now what should I do?

Enable the cheats you want to use, then start the game. Some cheats needs to reset the emulation first, but not usually

how do I activate the hidden characters?? everytime I go to "enable/disable cheats" I see a yellow "set" adn I press enter and it says that the character has been activated but nothing ever happens,I always reset and still nothing

Some of the cheats will work on certain period and some won't. Don't rely on cheats too much though. :cool:
