Today At Staples.

I went to pick up some speakers for my PC at Staples today, and I saw this really hot cashier, so I naturally chose to go into her line, over the olds.

I walked up said "Hi", and was just sitting there and, I dont know why I did this, but I looked at her hand, and there was a little tattoo on it.

At first, I was like: WTF?? Thats not what I think it is, is it? It looked like one of those weird symbols teenage girls would put in with a needle or something, but it turned out to be a poorly drawn swastika. A fucking swastika, and she worked at Staples. Funny I notice that, and not her boss.

That got me to thinking about all the Anti-Semitism that happens in my school.

Ive long known that idiots have been using Jews as there adjective of choice to diss people (replacing the former, "GAY"). Only redneck whores do this, and it disgusts me with a freakish passion. "Yo! Dont be jew!"

I remember being in History going over and OVER the number of ways Jews were torutred for no reason. Having nerve gas tested on them daily, having a trucks tail pipe crammed down there throat as it was running, babies being thrown into bon fires, women raped, etc. I remember the people in that class with me, the same people who cheerily call there friend a "Jew" for not giving him his Good Charlotte CD back.

I really want to know, does this happen in England? Australia? U.S.A? (no offence, but I suspect it may be just as common as Canada). It just doesnt make sense, why is everyone like this? Why now? Why to jewish people? No one said stuff like this three years ago, it was all: "Dont be a fag", "Dont be gay", etc.

Theres probably no specific reason, but why do you think people do this?

I think a lot of people do it because their insecure about themselves. They find other people that they can take out their frustration on. One thing is for sure though, it's not right.

It doesn't happen too often at my school, we tend to insult gays the most. Basically everyone has just replaced stupid, dumb, moronic, idiotic with gay, queer, or fag.

Although it doesn't happen that often we also aren't hesitant to laugh at a good jew joke, nobody really cares about who the joke is offending, as long as it's funny. Oh, and hispanics are made fun of constantly as well.

is staples a jewish company?
are you sure the swasticka wasn't back to front?

yeah people here use the words gay and jew. probably don't use jew as often as american's though, we have less jewish people, jewish culture isn't big like it is in america, and we usually call stingey people "tight-asses".

don't use queer or fag much. fag usually refers to a cigarette. a lot of people are trying to phase "gay" out as a derogatory term, or they change the spelling to ghey.

Argh there goes my post count....
It's true that a few years back when my social interraction with the common idiot were more often (translation: when I was in school) the most common insult would be faggot, dumbass, retards etc. I have not heard somebody say 'jew' in the context you described yet, but I've seen it around on forums.

It's idiotic. It's nor WORSE than calling someone a fag, a cripple, a nigger or something similar. But just as ridiculous. A lot of theories have been put forth basing this on xenophobia, fear etc. I just think less of the people that try to insult someone or instigate some agrresive reaction using race, religion, sexual preference or nationality.

Simple minded people that can't think of a smart way to anger someone allways fall back on 2 year old tactics (see the your house is bum link provided by Waz in honka) but this time poo poo and pee pee are just replaced with race, religion ethnicity or sexual preference. Usually you will see that people that do this often have no chacter. They dress like other people or the MTV VJ's. They listen to what everybody else listens to and have no opinion of their own. Original thought is an unkown process. It is very fun and easy to absolutely rip these people to shreds by pointing out their chroma-copy existence.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for satire. And I laugh my ass off when I listen to comedians like Chris Rock or even more controversial people like Andy Dice Clay. I think it is okay to make fun of everyone else as long as you don't overlook the fact that you yourself and your own race, religion, preferences can be a pretty funny subject of humor.

Yeah. A reversed swastiki is a peace sign.

<>_<> I think you are taking this a bit too far, saying that calling
someone a jew means you have social problems or wear the same
clothes as other people. If you read what you posted you'll realise that
it's just the same as calling someone who doesn't wear the same
clothes as other people a freak.

As for the jew thing, I don't think it's often used in england for
anything else than calling someone stingey, which I think is fine as
every race, religeon etc has their own stereotypes.

No he isn't. Look at the next person you hear say "GAY!!!!" as an insult, or says "This is gay!!!!". I bet he'll be a hoodie-clad simpleton.

(That probably isn't a fair test, because if you look at near enough ANYBODY they'll be a hoodie-clad simpleton).

I think it has a little to do with the immensely popular Eric Cartman calling Kyle a filthy jew. People emulate that because fatass said it.

Oh, and in Amsterdam it's a compliment to be called a jew. In Rotterdam on the other hand...

at the end of the school year last year, someone found a giant swastica and things like "heil hitler" and shit like that were found in the stall of a bathroom. i knew it was a joke, since nobody is openly antisemetic at school, but i could be wrong

nobody ggets called a jew at our school. theyd be kicked out instantly since our school is so small.

Uhm no. Using *jew* or whatever simpleton remark as an insult definitely qualifies you as a Grade A moron. I couldn't care less how the moron dresses though.

Never seen someone use the word Jew in a demeaning way in real life (ie: school), but that's because I live in Israel. It's just a thing of being cool with the community, if someone does it, then the next joins in, and soon enough, the whole school, state, or country use it as an insult.

In my language, the worst insults are those that claim you to be a fag. There are people though, in my school, that call others arabs as an insult.

Yet you still thought to make a point of how the "Grade A moron" dresses.

I think he just meant to use it as a way to describe the stereotypical moron he was trying to portray.

The point was not in how he dresses, it was that this type of moron usually does not have original thought or character. The dress bit was just an example since in everyday life it is one of the most RAMPANT example of how people have lost their character. The moron dress code was a satirical simple example that most people would identify with in order to grasp the actual POINT of that paragraph which was their inherent lack of character.

Now to clear things up this does not mean that someone with a very strong character canot be racist or ellitist either. It is as I said most commonly the case, but not exclusively the case. While I find the 'lost' and copycat idiot racist to be more irritating it is the actual hate filled and intelligent racist that usually is the worst. They usually wont fling around cuss words that openly though.

I do get your point, yes the point I was trying to make is totally
unrelated to racism, but you still brought up the issue of how people
dress.

Basically you were saying all people that dress "normally" have no
personality, and I was saying that, if I said all people who don't dress
"normally" are freaks or something similar you would say something.
The point I'm trying to make is double standards.

i barely noticed <><> brought up dressing like other people or an mtv vj, did he perhaps hit a bit too close to home?

i notice you didn't bring up the fact he also mentioned what music the common moron likes.

In Scotland, we usually just beat people up that we don't like, and not bother with calling them names (probably why we have the highest rate of assault charges in Europe)

However there are names we do use, usually insulting the subjects mother, by putting her in a degradig situation.

You are going to make me quote Lewis Carrol again.

I said: People that have no personality, usually dress like the current fad.

Which is NOT equal to saying:

People that dress like the current fad have no personality.

Now besides this "I mean what I say and I say what I mean" detail, I still want to point out that what you are focusing on is a theoretical EXAMPLE to show a point, and you are not addressing the point itself.

Double standards have absolutely NOTHING to do with what I was saying as I was not critisizing the way they dress ot talk but their REASONS for doing so. Trying to categorize people by the way they look is kind of like the ideological cousin of racism.
