I've got a computer controller that I want to use with my Metal Slug Games, and everytime I try to input the buttons on the controller onto the game (by pressing tab-input this game) or even the general input, the game doesn't recognize the controller. I've already read through the other thread that talked about this, but I still don't know how, could someone please help me with this? :D

Make sure that windows can see the controller from the windows control panel.
If it works there then there should be no problem.

Ya Windows sees it, but MAME doesn't. Does anybody else have a controller that they use, can you tell me how you did it?

If you're using Mame32 or any derivate, go to "Options -> "Default Game Options" -> "Controllers" tab -> check "Enable joystick input". Now go to "Controller mapping" -> select "joystick" on every analog devices you want to uise with your joystick, on each combo-boxes
on standard Mame comand line version: open "mame.ini" (replace "mame" for your Mame's name if necessary), then go to this section, and look at the marked lines:
### Input device options ###
