depends on your budget:
(prices in USD)
high end -> 7800GTX ~500 (PCI-E only)
mid end -> x800xl ~280 PCI-E, ~320 AGP
6800GT ~320 PCI-E, ~280 AGP
low end -> 6600GT ~150 PCI-E/AGP
cheapass -> 6200 ~100 AGP (can be flashed into a 6600, unlocking 4 extra pipes)

i have a cut on my left pointer finger, so i cant really type efficently right now. ill give details if you want

Using the logic... 3000 is tooooooo much for a video card.
So, he meant 300 for sure.

Jale

S3 Graphics ProSavage DDR. Shitty and messed up textures and awfully slow :S. SiS are the best ones on integrated chipsets. That's why I bought an ATI card, but it's up to 8X AGP and my motherboard can support up to 4X AGP.

all integrated graphics is bad. the only mediocre one is the one that comes with ATI's new 939 chipset

So should we all just save our money and buy a board that supports PCI-EXPRESS. Then get a PCI-E vid card?

depends on what you do with your comp. if you have loads of cash and or love hardcore gaming with uber eye candy, yes, save up for the new platforms. youre going to need at least 400$ for 939+PCI-E (AMD route) or 500-600$ for 755+PCI-E (intel route)

I heard that, for the people that cant buy an expensive video card, the GeForce 6600 GT (avalaible in the AGP and PCI-Express editions for the same price, 200€) is an excelent choice...

PCI-Express cards are cheaper..
AGP cards are a little more expensive.
But in this case 128 mb AGP and PCI-Express are the same.

not always. 6800GT for AGP is still a lot cheaper than it is for PCI-E. the higher end doesnt quite follow the same rules

I have a PCI-Express Radeon X700 pro made by Asus. It's not spectacular, but I get nice performance on games like Half-Life 2 even with 6x AA / 16x AF at 1280x960. Definitely not setting any records with it, but I've been very impressed. It's very overclockable, and you can get it for under $200.

the x700 series are pretty crappy cards and not worth the money. 6600GTs are much better choices

You said 3grand not 3k in the post.
3grand = 300$
3k = 3000$

By the way are you goind to buy a comp for 3000$!!???
You're confusing me..that's a bit overkill.
