This is just a random poll I make to measure how many people uses a certain type of processors
If there is something else to add, admins and moderators are welcome to do so :)

Sempron +2800 (1.6GHZ) & 512ram & Geforce 6600(AGP). That should last for a good 3 years.

ive got a AMD athlon XP processor (what ever that means), 256mb DDR , 16mb graphics card :msn_cry: and a 40gb hhd.

You should consider upgrading that graphics card and possibly add 256mb of extra ram to ease up the load on the CPU.

Either ATI or GeForce with 128 or 256 MB of video RAM. Stay away from GeForce MX.
And wrong thread to ask :glare:

Whats does the processor do anway   . I understand the basics of a computer but what is the purpose of the processor
Jale

The central processing unit (CPU) is the part of a computer that interprets and carries out the instructions contained in the software. A term processor usually refers to a CPU as well.

The CPU it's much more important on emulators than on PC games.
About my system specs again, I got 1Gb (2x512Mb) DDR-400 and a GF 6600 GT 128Mb AGP8x . Not enough for Chankast anyway as I have a 2.4Ghz CPU (not 800Mhz FSB) :p

this isnt helping your argument. AMD is a brand that makes CPUs among other things, but still doesnt make it a CPU. AMD in itself is not a processor. maybe thats what youre failing to understand?

yep :)
microsoft itself is not an OS. windows is the OS.
AMD is not a processor. athlon is a processor.

actually intel has just as many if not more processors, you just havent chosen acknowlege them.
off the top of my head:
Pentium 4:
prescott
northwood
williamette
Pentium 4 Celeron:
prescott
northwood
williamette
mobile P4 (dont know codenames)
mobile P4 celeron (dont know codenames)
Pentium M:
Dothan
Banias
Pentium 3:
Katami
Coppermine
Tualatin
"Pentium 4" Xeon 603/604:
Nonoca (sp)
Gellatin (sp)
Foster
Prestonia
so there. intel has quite a few more than AMD does.

I don't view core revisions as seperate processors. I just count the current generation model name
screw all the technical BS, bragging rights

One of my mates owns a 2.66 ghz celeron d, with 533mhz fsb and 256kb l2 cache, while i own a 2.4 ghz pentium 4, 533mhz fsb and 512kb cache. Which would be better? Would the cache difference have a big impact?
