I was visiting the official site of the live action Transformers movie today(http://www.transformerslive.com) and the top news were amazing. Somebody stole Optimus Prime's license plate from the Dreamworks(production company) stand at this year's Comic-Con!!!
Since the site is made entirely with Macromedia Flash it is hard to link to a specific page but here is the official forum thread (http://www.transformerslive.com/board/showthread.php?t=86)
Here is a picture of Prime.

Somebody went there with a screwdriver and unscrewed it from the back. Take a look:

yeah they siad that on the official site but if the guy was smart he would secretly sell it at a later date and for a high price. unless he was paid to steal it and gave to some collector.

Has anything else like this every happened at other conventions or anywhere. i remember a couple of months ago a dalek was stolen from a museum i think and after a couple of ransom notes was left on a hill. It was one of the originals aswell.

hey i just thought of something how did the thief know the size of the screw yeah he could've gone before but it pretty hard to remember the size of a screw and don't they have metal detectors at the convention?

you obviously arent involved with any kind of trade or being a handyman, are you? for different things the generally same screws are used- ie most screws used in door hinges are the same size, so most number plate screws would be the same. im sure you could find a crappy plastic screw driver set somewhere. im almost certain that number plate screws are no longer then 15mm and diameter is maybe 8mm

you know what thanks cuz this just gets me to another point.
many vehicles here have a nut on the other side of the bumper to maintain the screw in place because the bumper is to thin to contain the amount of threading needed for the screw not to slip or fall out cuz of the vibration the vehicle creates when in motion. this comes on any car even show cars. so if you were going to steal a plate and did know the size of the screw your plan would be fucked up cuz of that little nut. now without a wrench or any other tool able to grip a nut you ain't goin to steal shit. think of it like this without that little nut you would be able to steal the plate without the need of a screwdriver. shiiit without that nut the screws are useless.

in aus our plates screw into the body/panel that its designed to go into. i was basing what i said... but yeah without a spanner then that would go tits up unless you got a monster grip on the nut, but maybe that display was different? wait, what am i talkin about, i did it.... it was just stuck on with stickytape :P
