It depends on your theme, the color of font, style of the document and most of all what is the document intended for e.g. display, printing etc.

But mostly white is the best.

i disagree. if it has a lot of writing, a black/dark background would work best. its easier on the eyes

Try it DJ. I think someone is probably doing some assignment from his/her college or something like that.

If you print the document with a black background, you know what will happen.

Simply put, documents are rather for understanding and not for decoration.

I just prefer white... but for less words, you understand?

I can't agree more upon what you (quoted) are talking about... :D
