Signature/Banner restriction?

Time to set this one straight, as more people registering this site and posted some huge pics or signatures. (Which is very bad for some 56k users who is viewing this site.) So, I start thinking restricting them to around 500*100 banner size or signature length, in which most forums already use this method. :cool:

So, Lefty. Any comment on this one? :rolleyes:

How about 500x160 pixels, 50kb size and a maximum of 4 lines of text?

oh yeah I had pretty big baner on my sig yesterday
but I was celebrating. But its gone now (as of yesterday).
And yes a lot forums do have a limit for sigs, so It only be normal for E-Z to enforce a rule about them. But be fair, I suggest it to be
no bigger than the one montpics has.

Well, I just made an animation banner which is 500*100 size which turned out to be around 500kb. Resizing them smaller would make it worse. Just can't help it. :p

I originally wanted the_ghost but by mistake I put the_g_host

and people use used to mispell it to a further extent

Well set restrictions. People, make sure you use at least a 10% JPEG compression to make things easier :p

And yes, 500x100 is quite enouth for a signature. There are still people surfing at 800x600 and a sig greater than 500x100 would screw the forum's layout.

Better format choices?

JPG and GIF. No PNG. PNG would be a pain for 56kers.

Another thing is you dont always have to show your sig on every post you make.
I you posted more than once in a single thread, I think people have already seen your sig, so theres no need to show your sig all 10 post that you made in the same thread.
(toward the poeple who use banners as their sig) (I am one of them, formally)

(Not regular letters, something cool like when you had "butters cannot be stopped"

hey, were just looking out for the 56k'ers who visit this site, lots of images/banners slow down the loading time of the pages and if your using 56k
the page-loading time is already slow enough.I really dont mind, I'm using cable.

It's only a couple pixels oversized, and it's too much trouble to just go and remove those.

Any new sigs I make (I'll be making a new one soon) will be below the 500x100 restrictions.
