View Full Version : Just wondering

This is probably my first ever thread here so please here me out.

One of the rules is to not link to sites that have roms which is quite ok.

BUT, on the front page, under affiliates, is at least one link to a rom site.

That same site tried to put viruses and spyware onto my computer.
It doesn't seem to be a good site to affiliate with, given the rules here.

Now, of course you can tell me to get lost ... but i'm just wondering if someone could explain it.

'Get lost!'? Nope! I wouldn't be so evil for that to whatever comes to feedback thread. :)

As what are you mentioning (You were mentioning the same thing again on EmuFanatics), I was thinking the same thing as the one of links given provide some porn's ad in which I am really want to ask Lefty myself not only that what you are mentioning just now.

The emufanatics question was about R**center, which has links to rom sites. However that is quite a bit different from having them yourself. Anyway we'll see what Lefteris says.

Emula Zone. There, I said it. Just to make sure, I went there and was able to download stuff. Plus, although it's outside of your control, they also have links to more rom sites.

Romcenter. You think of a rom manager tool. Go there, at bottom left are links to rom sites.

I haven't checked any other of your affiliates.

Cybergamez has also links to rom sites.. :glare:

1) I don't think E-Z can get into trouble for indirectly linking to ROM sites through sites
that are not really "rom site portals" (as said, ROM Center is a rom manager tool).

2) The thing with Emula Zone is that affiliation with them goes ___way___ back.
Also I just visited it -- it seems it hasn't really changed in ages. And I was able to
download a ROM without any pop-ups and without any software being installed.
(though I use FireFox that automatically blocks pop-ups)

I refuse to go anywhere or to any rom site with IE because it can install shit and never even alert you to it.

Personally I never affiliate with people who are rom sites, but I don't particularly say they can't have links to rom sites on their own affiliates list. Its not my place to do so, and would be dumb. As long as they are not directly serving roms, then its cool with me.

Hello, a new Administrator... never knew you existed, always thought Lefty was in charge.

What happens when I visit Emula Zone is an instant warning from my virus scanner picking up some trojans and viruses. Once that's done, I get prompted to install some active-x control. If I hit no it says I need to hit yes to view the site. The original prompt then returns after a short while, and it's a loop. I didn't try it with Firefox.

Anyway, back to the original topic, Emula Zone hosts ROMS. By having a link to them, it contradicts the rules which state that you cannot link to a site which has roms. Of course, this is your own site and you may run it in any way you wish, and I'm not saying otherwise. It just seemed odd.

Yeah, specially to the ones who doesn't know who is GHDPro in this forum.

Well, in short. GHDPro is the 'owner' of this Emulator-Zone site while Lefty is helping a hand building the site. ;)

I saw the join date when I made the "new" comment; more a reflection that I never seen him post before. Thanks montpics for explaining it. GHDpro has explained about emula zone being there: it's a matter of long-time association, before the rules came into being.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Er, yeah, that's basically it. I couldn't have explained it better :)

As for "new admin" :glare: Guess it shows how much I've been visiting lately...
(I originally build the site, but kind have lost interest lately -- the site I'm most active on is a BitTorrent site for anime fansubs)
